Questions for the club zr-1 historian.

I own 1990 z # 2441. I have the original window sticker that came with the car and it states it was delivered to Chevrolet Central Office, Warren, Michigan. Well, the window sticker from NCM that I ordered says the car, identical vin # was delivered to Champion Chevrolet in Manhattan Beach, California???? Information in the Pizza box also says Manhattan Chevrolet, California. The first carfax title indicates is was first licensed in August of 1992.????? So was this car possibly used for several months at the Chevrolet Cental Office, and then shipped to the California Chevrolet dealer and a new window sticker made????

Another puzzle is that the window sticker that indicates it was shipped to the Central office indicates it has california emission requirements and cost 100 dollars. The NCM window sticker indicating the car was delivered to California does not mention california emissions and no charge????

A third puzzle is the "ZR-1 special performance package" option cost 27,016.00 on the NCM sticker and the original sticker with the car says cost is 27,056.00? All other costs on the two window stickers are identical????

If anyone can shed any light on any of these facts, please do so. I know, some of you are saying who cares..... I am just into the history of this car.

The Chevrolet Central Office in Warren would be the huge GM Tech Center at 12 Mile Rd and VanDyke.

GM Executive get perk vehicles to drive for 90 days. I am guessing that is what took place with your car.

CARFAX wasn't a 50 state thing until maybe '93. It gathered momentum in the early '90's but it wouldn't seem odd for it not to show activity before '92. That might have been it's first activity after California began participation.

What RPO codes in the NXX sequence does your SPO label display. The ZR-1 was a 50 state build but California required a certification and required different warranty time and mileages for certain components. There was an additional charge applied to these vehicles and the car got a specific RPO NN5 (I believe).

I've never seen an actual invoice to dealer side by side for a California vs Federal car. I believe the fee would have been on the original if it were destined to California and it seems it was and the NCM is actually a reconstructed likely from a data base and if there wasn't a charge "to the dealer" on the invoice then it wouldn't get reflected in their reconstruction. Make sense?

My 96 Collector's Edition was an Executive use car; it had 6200 miles on it when I got it.

what is PEP?

When I worked for GM, there was a PEP program where vehicles were driven for six months or so and then sold. Product Evaluation Program, if i remember correctly. Your car may very well have been in the program.

Uh oh!
I wonder if Jim Ingles "test drove" it for 90 days!
:)
Hopefully you at least got it with new tires!

So, if my car was a pep car, what would it have gone through? Torture?
