Hello all I am new her and looking at purchasing a 91 thru 93 ZR-1 but have a couple questions that need to be answered first.

1. Do Zr-1 that are in California have less power or diffrerent emission than other ZR-1's from 91 through 93?

2. Low tire pressure light is there anyway of getting rid of this light since the system cannot be fixed? Or so I am told?

3. Can a person get a second power key since the owner has lost it? Thank you for help with this!!!

the zr-1 is a 50 state legal car, they're all the same.

on some cars you can remove all 4 ltwps and that will make the light go away, you can also pull or otherwise black out the light, or you can replace the ltwp sensors.

yes you can get another key, i'm not sure on the specifics but someone will chime in

Power key is the same as door key except for the fancy looking cover. Power key can be copied on to GM door key blank.

1. No, all emissions are the same. Power differance, 90-92 came with 375 hp and 93-95 w/405 hp
2. Yes you can get rid of it and the system can be fixed
3. Yes

Don't be afraid... You'll love the car. There's great support here if you need it!

Your right! I just wanted to clarify a couple things.... I will be in the market for one in a couple weeks... I have dreamed about this moment for years!!!!! In fact too many!!!! Is 21k for a 35,000 miles or less 91 or 92 a doable amount or 18k for on with 60k or more. Looking ofr a red on red or red on black 91-93...

Where are you located in South Dakota? I live in Montana, close to Billings, and have a red/red 90 which is having some work done on it in Texas. If you have any problems with the ZR1, should you purchase one, there is nothing that the people on the site will not be able to give you advice on how to fix. Great bunch and between the know everything there is to know about his car.

Cheers,

Ron's got it pretty well covered, I might have emphasized "fixed" for #2 regarding the LTPWS - if the components are there or most of them repair is generally pretty straight forward. Elimination of, is a personal decision.

Regarding #3, the correct "power key" for the '91+ ZR-1 ('91 - '95 are all alike) is difficult to procure but the function of the switch can be accomplished by just a correct cut on a GM H blank oval head door key. It is NOT the same as the door key code for the car but is just a mechanical cut on a keyway that happens to be the same as the H blank door key.

What have you been told? What part is not working? Or are one or more sensors on the wheels missing?
If they are there it's well worth fixing them. There are a few well understood failure scenarios that are fixable, one with just a rasp file.
It's a great safety feature to be alerted when tire pressure is low.

Well there was a 93 ZR-1 at a GM dealership and the sales guy stated some part wasn't available but I don't think he knew what he was talking about but I figured I would ask on here.

GM discontinued lots of parts however I don't know of any single part that you cannot buy from aftermarket vendors. I have even have an aftermarket windshield in one of my cars made to look similar to the stock unit. Jerry from Jerry's gaskets has had many parts re-made, some to the NCRS standard.

Another nice thing is that the LT5 is almost bullet proof.

Anyone know of a part you cannot get?

What about a belt tensioner. I know Haibeck rebuilds them but is anyone remanufacturing them?

93 had unique wheels, probably the rarest factory zr-1 wheel produced. they're machined vs painted
