I'm gonna' get a racing stripe painted through the middle of my red '90.

Said I'd NEVER get another Red one. They're too 'loud' (you're wrong about Red, John Heinricy). I only bought this one 'cause it was only 24 miles away, and the next closer one, in 7 weeks of looking, was 400 miles away.

So I've decided NOT to give it a new Black coat, but to leave it Red, and make it even LOUDER, with striping.

So, with cost difference being negligible,

Red, with [White or Black] abbreviated striping, like the C5?

Or, Red, with bumper-to-bumper [White or Black] striping, GS style:

Which C5 striping?

I do like the white car with the red stripe. I think your C4 with that style of striping in white would look great. I never liked the stripes that continue over the front bumper covers.

I bought a set of LT1 shorty headers from that guy with the white C4...

Either C5 '05 Commem Le Mans theme:

or the GS theme - full length.

No other opinions here?

I like the C5 Z16 stripes but you need to tape the hood a couple times to determine the best layout. Tape it, put on a coat of polish and remove the tape to better visulize the results. Best I recall your car is a '90 and I'd say there might be no choice other than black with the black body side moldings.

I don't know how you would multi-color the stripe like the Z16 but it might be nice. Then you need to determine what you do at the rear cover. The black moldings maybe creat an issue there. I don't like the mix of the GS "hash" with the Z16 on the hood. I don't believe I'd go the GS "hash". If those aren't on a GS they don't need to be anywhere.

And my '90 has '91-'96 body...

Anyone NOT like this paint scheme (sans the Greenwood jam)?

And who's the other board member with this schema?

**This is not the Z that is painted like a GS on this forum, two different cars.

On a C4 body style I like the GS themed stripes better. Seem to flow better with the body lines IMO.

If you do it, the Le Mans style not the full bumper style. You could also buy vinyl accent stripes of varying width to do the same thing in contrasting color.

The one thing regardless of C4, C 5 or C6 that I would not do (though I'd be inclined not to stripe it either) is to put the two horizontal shoulder stripes over the front fenders each side.

Just looks weird to me like tattooing your first born so you'd recognize them.

That one is RIGHT.

I must ask here tho'; did you consider running the striping over the front?

And I'm working with Red, which is just TOO much - to loud, for me here...

G8, I may be wrong about your car, but one just like it. I am going through my old Corvette Fever mags and organizing them (I know old and bored), but I believe I found your car with paint scheme in the September 1997 issue pgs. 38-40 "Stomping the Snake". JVD wrote it the car was owned by Tom Sullivan of Burlinghame, Ca.. It ran 12.20@116.32mph and beat the Viper which is what they were trying to do. You might have a small slice of history with that paint job, I would contact JVD for more info on that car and engine.

I am not big on any of the Lotus Products, Elise, Exige, Espirit, Evora. But, that is what makes America so great. You do get the opportunity to VOICE your opinion.

Seems to me the current Lotus cars are optimized for some of the shorter Euro road tracks and for that they work well. I have one in a racing game that is pretty realistic and they have so many limits you can't take them very far in the game. However, on a short British track with lots of turns their light weight makes them fun in class. I'm 6'4" so me and Lotus built cars don't work at all anyway.

As stated before I am a HUGE Esprit fan. In its day it handed everything on the road their a$$ on a platter with half the cylinders. The ones it couldn't beat were still very close in performance. Being British it had it's issues but what Brit cars didn't? And you, sir, have a fine example of one.

I like to kid Lotus people about us being their cousins, they are not to happy about it most of the time, so I was just joking, no offense. Here is the article, well, the best I could scan it. You still would need to JVD to check Serial Numbers. Hope this helps.
