Well Gang
Just an update for the Gathering BBQ at Auto Masters. (Thursday July 16th, 5pm, at Auto Masters).
We’ve got over 40 registered as of today. We’re either going to have a nice quaint party, or some better start registering ASAP. J
We normally see about 100 here so there are lots of you yet to sign up. For food planning purposes, we will not be taking unregistered folks until all the registrants have eaten.
I have heard the Registry is not donating to the party this year so we have to rely on your contributions so see our registration page on our website at:

Registration ends May 10th.
Some other news. I received a call from an original ZR-1 Registry member who used to travel with us to various events like Carlisle and the Legend Lives. He acquired a ton of memorabilia along the way and has nature would have it, he has long ago sold his car. Not long ago his Lovely wife was going through the closet trying to free up some space and kept moving boxes until she opened one and found nothing but Corvette stuff. She opened another and same thing. Come to find out, the closets, attic and garage were FULL of ZR-1 Corvette stuff. Can you imagine that? J
Well, he called me and decided that he should send us his cache of stuff and we would find the appropriate manner to “dispose” of it. The items included Original LT5 Plug wires, pewter LT5 statue, the matching Techman statue, press kits, original STS training kits with manuals and videos, engine parts, new T-shirts from all over including the “500 at Carlisle” and a brand new NCM Grand Opening shirt, still in the plastic! He went on and on with promo car collections, owner’s kits, posters etc.etc.etc. He’s going to get at least some of the stuff here by the Gathering so we can start the project. Project?
Yes, as I said earlier, we are going to build an area at the Museum to honor the ZR-1 owners who have passed away, but we are going to add to that with the addition of anyone who wants a brick in the new Owner’s Area. Some of you might not know that the ZR-1 owners kept the NCM alive during some very tough times. In fact, the museum would not be here today if not for the loyal support of the ZR-1 owners from the very beginning. But today we have been mostly forgotten. There are no ZR-1 items in the store, and usually just a car or two on display. With this contribution of memorabilia, we are going to auction, eBay or whatever these items and pool these funds and once again support the NCM by building “The ZR-1 Owner’s Memorial”. Depending on the funds, we will buy a large 24x24” brick ($2,500), and surrounding smaller bricks ($100 each). If we come up really well, I would also like to put add a bench near the large brick so we can sit and reminisce those good ‘ol days when the King of the Hill was the talk of the entire automotive community. We will offer some of these items at both the BBQ and the banquet auction.
I’m also finding a bunch of stuff around here I might as well get rid of….:-) Might even find time to make a dvd or two for The World Record Run, or Thunder at Stillwater, etc. Might make a nice table decoration?
So signup and get ready to have a great time gang. There’s a nice big juicy Ribeye with your name on it!
