View Full Version : Air Injection Reaction Pump unplugged?

So, some of you saw my post on the hoodlight thread on this plug that I found unplugged. I was looking for the inline fuse for the hoodlights and found this:

Best I can tell from the FSM is that it is the air injection reaction pump connector. My question is what the heck is an air injection reaction pump and why would it be disconnected?

Pumps air into cats to help get them up to temp at start-up for emissions. No idea why it would be unplugged. A previous owner (if there was one) may have unplugged if pump was going bad and making a lot of noise?

Aren't those unplugged when cats are removed?

Yes, and that's why it is unplugged. PO removed the cats. So, if I decided to go back with cats I would get the ones with air inlets and plug this back in.
