As the car’s speed limiter was deactivated, this modification was against the official guidelines. Consequently, the vehicle’s record set at 431.072 km/h is no longer valid. As we are now reviewing this category with expert external consultants there is no current record holder.”

too many rules in everything....the one thing the early Nascar guys had was the exhuberance of being moonshine runners who just pushed the bedevil out of cars and there were no guys stipulating this and that. A bit too much structure in life and, frankly, it's one of the reasons I like the Vette...it sort of says to me and lets me at times say quietly in my head: sometimes the rules are just for the tourists!
