Hello fellow WAZOO,
I just received a call from Lyndi that Jim's surgery is finished. The doctors said everything went fine with no complications. They said his heart is strong and they don't anticipate any problems. He will be in the cardiac recovery / ICU for about 24 hours, maybe returning to a monitored room sometime late tomorrow afternoon.
I spent Saturday afternoon with Jim and his spirits were fine. I will be visiting with him again on Wednesday. I'll keep everybody updated as I hear more.

As usual, Jim is performing above expectations. Just spoke with Lyndi again, and she says that Jim is wide awake and completely lucid already. They are going to kick him out of the ICU as soon as a bed becomes available in the monitored unit. They are thinking he may be discharged on Saturday ( I personally doubt they will be able to keep him captive that long). As soon as I hear back from Lyndi, Ill post another update. He MAY be able to receive calls or visits tonight, I'll keep you guys informed.

Hi Darrin,

Until I saw this thread I didn't know about Jim's surgery. I will wait until he's home, etc. before attempting to contact him. Since you will be seeing him again soon, please send best wishes & get well soon from George & Kaye ... thanks.

Appreciate your posting the updates/progress.

Stopped by and paid him visit around noon today. Glad to say that he looked great and was in great spirit.
Under the circumstances we might have to promote Jim to a supervisory position for awhile and demote Johnson to a wrench turner.
Get well soon buddy!

I just returned home after a visit with Jim. He's doing great! I never imagined anybody could look as good as Jim does just over 48 hours post-op. He is expected to be released probably Saturday, but he is up to an e-mail, call or quick visit if you would like. Looking forward to turning wrenches with the new and improved Captain soon.

Not so sure about that "David turning wrenches idea......", I'll wait for Jim to heal!

Jim is VERY grateful for the support and well wishes from his ZR-1 Family.

I had no idea Jim would have surgery but am thrilled that he is recovering well. Just as others have said, it comes as no real surprise that Jim would be doing so well. Apparently he copes with major surgery just as he does everything else....... exceptionally!
Best wishes for a continuing recovery and quick return to activities.

Your friend always,

Hello everyone, Thank you everyone for all of good wishes and support. It was a big help to know tht so many people were thinking of me.

I am recovering well and slowly adding activities to my daily routine. I am not allowed to drive yet, maybe in two more weeks.

A very special thanks to Darrin for all of his help and support. Lyndi and I will be forever grateful for his compassion and knowledge to help us through this. Thanks my friend!

I'm glad I was able to help in some small way. Now hurry up and heal (they were talking about Dave turning wrenches in your absence). We can't have that happen!!

Thank you to everyone for all the support and good thoughts.

I had my final post-op appointment with the heart surgeon yesterday (Wednesday) and he said everything is great and that I am doing fine. He released me from the post-op restrictions and told me to keep exercising to rebuild my stamina.

So, I went for a celebratory drive in the ZR-1 Wednesday afternoon. It really felt good to burn up a few Carroll County roads.

Jim, that is fantastic news! It must feel great to get back out there and drive, and you can't ask for better weather. Thanks so much for the NOS secondary acutator vacuum switch and lending me your really cool secondary diagnostic tools.

Isn't new plumbing a wonderful thing? Now have to catch up on the toy time activities.

Keep the recovery going with some quality time in the Z,
