On my 1991 ZR-1's window sticker, a $100 option was added for California emissions. Does anyone know what was added compared to non-California emission cars? And while i'm at it, does this option hinder vehicle performance? Thanks everyone.

MercCruiser did not do anything different to the engine. We did not know what cars they were going in.

From what I understand every car made is the same.Maybe that $100 was added markup.

Well, there was an option code; NN5- California Emissions system. What the difference was, I don't know. Maybe it had different cats or extra charcoal in the canister, lol.

the zr-1 is a 50 state compliant car. i'd have to look at my window sticker to see if I have the code you're talking about

The option codes are listed in the FSM. Don't think it would be on your window sticker, unless of course it was originally ordered with that option.

What's the car #

I believe I see you mentioning # 1411 somewhere and it's a Federal Emissions Car BUT *** NN5

*** NN5 California Emissions "OVERRIDE" Here's what I believed happened. The charge I believe is for the California required time/mileage emission warranties that were required for '90 MY and after cars/trucks sold after a specific date in 1991. 3yr/50K if it failed SMOG GM paid ----------- 7yr/70K if an emissions component failed GM paid.

Yes, it is 0411 as the last four digits of the VIN. Is that significant?

I believe your car is #1411 and NOT #0411 - the significance is the builds of each. The #1411 is an NN5 car I didn't check the other. You mentioned it was on the "window sticker" and I just confirmed it was documented on the SPO label in the console. If you look you will see it there. I'm fairly confident in the explanation I chose. Could I be wrong? Maybe!
