Got a code 61. Found a drive side solenoid was not holding vacuum.
All replaced and done.
I think the Super Ram is harder to get off then this ZR-1 Plenum.
Are there any MLS gaskets for the plenum?

Great to hear when someone does a fix. It means another ZR-1 back on the road. You might want to straighten the angle of actuator such that the plunger arm is straight. Helps with wear and tear :)

Scott....there are two schools of thought on that.
1. Leave Vacuum Canisters as they were installed at factory so you do not but different sort of stress on the bellows after so long a time.
2. Factory installed wrong....lets correct it now.
Actually, there is a third school of thought (my own).
3. Install new Vacuum Canisters the correct way.
Jerry's Gaskets (http://jerrysgaskets.com/store2/root/) has ALL the gaskets you need and you will have the gasket in two days (maybe three).
I would give everything the Once Over since you are under there including cleaning out the Valley Drain tube and a complete inspection of the Secondary Vacuum System. I would also clean out all the oil and trash. I would remove the starter (not a big job) and pressure wash that area after spraying with Engine Degreaser.

SOLENOID wouldn't hold vacuum?
I thought a solenoid was just a switch?
Or is there a valve that's integral with the switch?

He certainly must mean the actuator as that is what is pictured.
Can't think of any thing else it could be.

Yea actuator... Installed the same way it came out. Also looks like the same way on the other side....
I don't have a problem pulling the plenum off now...

That is why I posted the photo of the secondary system in post #5 ;)

I'm still a bit involved with family issues. All Montana cousins are back home and things are settling down to local cousins and siblings.
The thing that is guaranteed about making it to being older is watching the previous generation give way to the inevitable.
But back to the issue at hand.
By all means rip out all GM designed features such that any potential future owner won't have a clue as to what he has or who did it.
Value could be increased by how rare you've made your ZR-1.
You can boast, it's one of only 6 that has the XXXX ripped out.
That will definitely increase it's value.
There is a line in the movie "Forest Gump" that covers it.

If it makes the car more reliable then take it out, throw it in a box, and let the next owner take it with him.
