Looking for information concerning the usual air gap clearence between crankshaft position sensor and the outside of 9 slot wheel machined in the crankshaft.

Are you saying that with the spacer its too far apart from the crank?

I think as long as the spacer is in place you are good....I did not see anything in the service manual or video....pete might know for sure

I see Jerrys has different shim sizes, I will keep looking

ignition module part #1103841 a gap of .020=.050 and ignition module #1103737(early 90) .070-.080

Thanks Lee,
I installed the crank position sensor in the block tonight and the air gap measured 0.024" so I should be good to go.
I can't document, but I recall the early 1990 LT5 (first 500??) being the only ones that required a shim? Hopefully someone else can chime in with substantiated information.

Let me correct that 702 had a shim, that went into 966...I will check the 966 motor tomorrow

The engine I purchased and am building not did not have the sensor or shim present. I guess the only way I will know if I need a shim or not is to install the sensor and measure the clearance.

Only the early cars with the early DIS require the shim, when replacing with the later DIS and the appropriate CPS I don't believe there is a shim requirement. I believe the air gap needs measured and confirmed but I don't believe there was any requirement for specific air gaps. It's been a long while but that's best I recall!
I just looked and there is 3.0mm, 3.25mm and 3.65mm applications and it does say '90 - '95!
