Before I drag out the 100 pound FSM I thought Id ask beforehand.Years ago I repaired the antenna in an 84,is the removal process the same for a 91,is the plug close to the antenna or is it several feet away from the antenna? Thanks.

These are actually I believe pretty accurate instructions for the replacement of the mast and cable. You're not receiving maybe what you're expecting after looking at your early model antenna.

Removing the LH taillamp(s) gets you close to some of the stuff you need to disconnect IF you have to drop the motor to get pieces of the gear strip out of the motor. There are 2 ground straps and the top one is easiest to access thru the taillamp opening. Some cavemen might just cut the ground straps, but they are there for a reason. Best to do the job right ... I think the 84 is harder because the rear facia gives you no clearance to work.
The service manual is wrong about where the power connection is located - you do not have to remove the shade and interior rear panel - the connector is elsewhere ...
