I thought about this being a poll, but decided I would rather just have replies with opinions..

I have 92 Sport seats in my 90. I put Carbon fiber look vinyl wrap on the back shells a couple years ago.. looks good, but now in areas the vinyl is bubbling, partly since I did not use the primer/adhesion promoter so I would have to redo the seat backs. Also the bladders need to be fixed

I have also thought of swapping to the 94-96 seats but which would you switch to.. base or sport. I like the form/design of the base seat but often curious if the sport seat is better.. my current seats are black/red.. I like the Black red for the base but not to keen on the dual color for the sport seats..

So which seats do you like best and why:

91-93 Sport Seats?
94-96 Base Seats?
94-96 Sport Seats?

thanks for all opinions

Edit: yes I know for the ZR-1 the Sport seats are 94-95, but considering all C4 seats are the same

I would think that the preference in seats would be directly proportional to the size of the owners....seat :)

There's only one a$$ that has to spend the most time is the seat and I'm not talking about "her" seat! You need to have a few "sit ins" that might include a "drive"!

There's a few to many "POLLS" now ! MY thoughts!

I had a 91 Z between 91-96 and currently has a 94 Z (2000 - forever?).
I have been skinny all my life so the a$$ size was never a issue. However, 91 seats bolsters, specifically driver side left, due to it's almost perpendicular angle to the back and pronouced size ends up being worn out caused by rubbing during the entry and exit.
Later sport seats can be adjusted to be quite open and not as pronounced resulting in less abrasion during entry and exit. For this reason, my preference is for the later sport seats. If I was blessed with wider a$$, my preference would be even greater for the later seats.

I am a big guy.. I don't mind the 92 seats, I like the 94 Base but not sure on the 94 Sport.

I have an idea for a set of 94-96 sport seats so I might go that route..

91-93 Sport Seats. I really liked the Cloth Sport Seats in my 84. Wonder if the Competition seats from the C7 will fit?:confused:

Take a seat in Paul's 94 base seats, I think he likes them! I do like the 94 to 96 sport seat myself, but I like the look / quality of the earlier seats (91 to 93).

Tough choice!

I prefer the early seats. The sport seats in the L98 89 we have are great; next I would say the sport seats in the 91, then finally the sports seats in the 96. The 96's just don't hold snug enough IMHO. However if I was going to swap and it was between the base 94-96 and sport 94-96 I would go sport hands down they look 100x's better IMHO. Other than that I would keep the 90-93’s for the overall look and function.

nice range of input.. So if I keep the sport seats I have (92) any suggestions for the back shells?

I saw a set leather wrapped once. Looked good.

For those of you who have changed to the 94-96, I'd love to see pics of the seat (in your Z ;))

The 90 sport seat is too narrow for me. I'm 6'1" 185 and on long trips my left leg gets pretty cramped.

Jeff,

My butt ain't zackly big (waist = 38"), yet the 90 sport seats were awful in that they pinched my thighs so they cut off circulation. I so loved my base 95 car seats that when Jason (Vette2Vette) had a pair of base 95s come available, I grabbed 'em. I LOVE 'em, and Ami does as well! (If they were too narrow for me, think about how they fit the ladies!)

Every carcus is different, but I believe you would enjoy the base 94-96 seats, or possibly the 95 or 96 sport seat (about the same).

One other consideration that might be a consideration, consider the weight of the sport seats to the base (94-95) seats. There is a few pounds difference, "Fer Sher!"

Here's the only pic I have of the "new" seats. Another nice thing about these seats is they really make getting in and out a lot easier, in spite of the sill

I have the stock 90 seats (2nd set) and think they are fine for me.
The adj side bolster is great and the lower seat adj gets attention
based on how long a drive I have. The lumbar support could be larger but it's acceptable.

Yeah Paul, I talked to Jason and I have a couple options with him.. I have some 94-96 base leather and cushions, but need frames.

Other thought was get a set of Sport seats and then do something custom with them at some point..

Heres a very old pic when I first picked up my car in Houston. Even the door sills are changed now, and the radio, console cover dashmat and.... My seats now have the black sheep blue ribbon sheepskins on them. Pricey but so damn comfortable

how about aftermarket options? I liked the 93 seats in my LPE 475 car (just sold again from Luxemborg, is it back in the states now>>> from David V,)

they seemed for some reason to have better padding than the 90, and are MUCH better for track work.

but I do prefer the 95 seats for travel and easy jumping in and out of the car. they seem to be the most comfortable overall

like to hear about Sparco, or Corbeau options that you all may have installed.

I favor comfort over track because I still travel in the old LSV and need something that I can drive for 8 hours plus if needed.

Bit pricey but if a Ford pump dosen't work here is an option.

Well, I am installing 94 Sports seats.

How much work is involved in connecting the seat to the control panel? (It isn't just plug-and-play, is it?)
