Hello Robert,
I polled with Dymag (Gen IIs) because that is what is on my Z right now and it is my all time favorite for me. It is truly bitchin regardless that you I need a spacer and can't upgrade to very big brakes (future).
My other wheels are CCW Classics (center PC'd in gloss black) and my OEM 90MY wheels are also PC'd in gloss black with polished lips.

Wheels are likely one of the most personal choices we make for our cars.
I have sawblades, but switched from the 91-92 painted version to the '93 machined-faced version several years ago. Having been faced recently with the possibility of having to switch to something else after damaging one of the 93 wheels and having been fortunate enough to find a complete set of never-mounted '93s before having to make a switch, I am more adamant than ever now that I will retain these for a loooong time to come.

Bob,
You hit the nail on the head with wheels being the most personal choice of owners by personality, the color of car, purists, bling, racing, etc. and no choice is wrong. It seems wheels are the biggest cosmetic appearance item on a car. I like the look of all the wheels that allow the deep dish on our cars too, but I don't have any of those yet........I need more storage space.

Now that the quiz has been made and the "after-market" results seem to be of many varieties a question I've always wanted to ask but never did because I thought it would not be received particularly well but how many have actually checked the wheel bore of the wheel they've installed? How many have used the correct hub-rings to correct the fit-ment? How many when having a non hub-centric wheel balanced have it done with a lug-centric adapter vs just the cone balance for a hub-centric wheel? Both are important.
The wheel center-bore for these wheels might make interesting conversation:
1. Shelby
2. FIKSE - which I always thought hub-centric but never checked
3. CCW - I've heard some aren't
4. OZ
5. Any branding from those that posted "other" that aren't included in the above.
And I mentioned my correct year and A-mold wheels in the poll.

Dave,
That is a interesting question I had never gave a thought to. Fortunately I never ran into a vibration issue after installing my Fikses.
Nevertheless, when I have some time, I will pull and check the wheel bore vs. hub diameter.

I bought this kit called "Shine Seal" ... it used to be called ZOOP.
I don't think these are clear coated , and this stuff creates a bond with the aluminum supposedly protecting it from oxidation.
Its like a 4 step process, but I will do it to all the wheels before they are mounted. Says each coating lasts 2 years.
Thanks for the heads up on the microfiber though :) ---

I can't post in the poll because it changes too frequently LOL:
- street tires on 91 sawblades
- school tires (hopefully soon to be rains) on black clone 11" A-molds
- competition tires on 11&12" CCW Classics.
how many have actually checked the wheel bore of the wheel they've installed? How many have used the correct hub-rings to correct the fit-ment? How many when having a non hub-centric wheel balanced have it done with a lug-centric adapter vs just the cone balance for a hub-centric wheel? Both are important.
I was all kinds of worried about this due to the stresses I put on things but it turns out to not be a real issue. My worst offender is the CCW with an 80-something mm hub bore and I mount them purely lug-centric, this with what must be 1.5g cornering loads. The one thing I do though is re-torque them all the time - not because they loosen or anything but because I'm constantly changing back and forth.
And I don't hit many potholes or other road hazards ;), and I don't bother balancing my slicks.
Best,

You must work NorthEast of Cosmo World and the Yokohama Grand by the angle of the Ferris wheel and hotel (or the wedge as I've heard it called).

Scott,
I work on Yokohama North Dock or Muzuho Futo. It is a small Army base and less than 2 minutes from Cosmo world that I drive by daily. You might remember Stardust or Pole Star bar that is right outside our gate. Never been to the Grand, but my parents stayed next door to it and famous gaijin hotel I hear.
Your idea sounds cool about the black with vents. Taping was difficult is I prepped the wheels for baking/PC since the company did not want to and so difficult. Some kind of special heat resistance green tape.

Yeah, I've got a couple of buddies that put HRE's on their cars. One was a GTS Viper the other was a 700 hp '98 Ram Air TA. They both spent around $3000 per wheel. By the time they bought tires they were into the package for around $15k. That's a boat load of money. But they had it to spend so....

These aren't the highest quality pictures but the last time I tried to post better pictures, they were very large.
If I remember correctly, they are HRE 445R wheels. Fronts are 18x10 with 275/35/18 tires and rears are 18x12 with 335/30/18 tires. The car looks really good from the back.
I had a hard time choosing the finish because they have a lot of nice options. I ended up with polished aluminum.

I voted "other" because I have a set of chromed fake A-molds. They have the correct offset for a ZR-1 which was kind of hard to find when I was looking for wheels back in early '05. I'm actually surprised that the chrome is still intact after 7 yrs & 50k miles! :dancing I have to give kudos to OE Wheel as I just figured for the price I was lucky that they were round!
I still have the factory salad shooters that came with the car. I may put those back on this year if I spring for some different rubber. I want to try those Nitto NT05's as they look to be killer in the dry.....but then I worry about what happens if I get caught in the rain with them? The D3's spoiled me as they have the grip in anything but cold and snow!:)

Tom
Hey Tom,
Nothing wrong with stock wheels and awesome that the chrome last so long; probably not in Hawaii with the salt air.
I don't know about the NT05s, but the NT05Rs worked nicely (really surprised me since I only have two threads) in the rain last weekend for me, but I did not drive higher than 60 MPH......no issues. I would not try them at higher speeds. I love Nitto tires and I'm sold on them. I think from now on I want NT05Rs since I can't seem to wear out tires before their get too old anyway............

Yes Craig, I have to agree that to be absolutely correct I never actually wear out the tires before they get hard. What is it ? 5 yrs is about all you can expect from "ultra High Performance" summer tires???? Before the rubber in the tread gets hard? Kind of stinks as the D3's are like $1500 a set!
That's why I figured to try the NT05's.....they look like they will stick like glue and the wear rating is soooo low that I figure I'll actually wear them out before they go hard on me! LOL
Ah, decisions, decisions, decisions!!! LOL
Tom
Craig, without the "R".... I need a street tire. Oh, and to my 'friends' speaking about my driving habits........phuuuuttttt First gear is only good to 58 and then the rev limiter kicks in on my Z....second is cool till 98, and then the same rev limiter kicks in again. Now 3rd and 4th are a different story, and I have no data.....smirk!....cough...cough...Toys For Tots 2010 Atlantic City Expressway closed east bound for the event....1xx ( less than 150 air drag too much ) in 5th, stereo blasting "In The Air Tonight", both windows open ( what's the point of blasting the stereo? ) two on board laughing like a couple of teenagers....it was fun for a few seconds. Man this car drives itself at those speeds!

WOW love that look!!!!! I've only seen 1 other HRE set "made" in the ZR-1 offset.... How long have you had that set of wheels?
are these pictures taken in Hawaii? Love the backdrop
David
I've had these wheels for about 9 years. I don't think they make this style anymore.
I live on Maui. It's not that far from Oahu but I hardly ever go there so I still haven't met HAWAIIZR-1.

Do you know or are you Myles F? That is the only ZR-1 person I hear of on Maui. I had a 91 White/black and sold it on Oahu in 2007; not sure where it is now. Nice to know more Zs in Hawaii. Aloha, Craig

We might have a future option for
Shelby Series One Billet 19X12
Oh... do tell. A 19in barrel on the rear would be great for future tire availability.

I am going to take apart a Shelby Wheel and a OZ wheel and see if anyone with a CNC machine can replicate them for a 19" Lip and Barrel.
Once I get verification that they can be done I will contact OZ and SAC to get authorization to have X amount of rear 19" wheels manufactured.
Seeing as how neither wheel has been manufactured in more than 15 years I dont expect there to be any problem with OZ or SAC. However I can be wrong.

I've been thinking about doing something like that with the Shelby rears for a while now, wonder if the center section could be retained and a new 19in barrel could be made that would have a taller mating flange...
Not sure I would bother looking for SAC approval, they would probably not ever notice such a small run of an out of date wheel but if you contact them you might get someone in legal who would just nix the idea out of habit.

Okay, I found someone. I am guessing the price is not going to be cheap per wheel. However, Two wheels are better than 4 any day of the week.

wished I had picked up a set of the shelby wheels back when Ron H. was selling them.
if anyone needs a set of a molds that need some light reconditioning let me know. I have 2 sets and need to get rid of them
I also have a set of sumitomos (new) mounted up on them so they are ready to bolt on and go
$850 for the rims. 450 for the tires or $1250 together
need to raise the cash to buy some new NT05s for spring
the GY EMT F1 runflats gotta go. I have 285/19/35 and 325/30/19s on CCW 505s. love the wheels, hate the tires. they don't hook or handle or ride, but at least they are expensive and unreliable. :censored:

On a Callaway or GS90, they look even better!

I still cant believe that GS90 sold for 64K.
Cant wait until I have the spare money to get two sets done in 19X12. Found a guy in Texas who can do the work when he gets a little slower.

.
Are you surprised that someone paid that much, or that little?

There were 6 built, I have no clue what the breakdown was for Coupe and Roadster. The GS stands for Grand Sport not Guldstrand Sport like everyone thinks.
Dick did a really nice job on that car. If he would have came in at 100k GM would have bit.

Jeff,
yes that is made by Toledo Pro. It was installed about 1996-98, after
the front spoiler and side panels from 49th street ( Sept 1994 ) Rear wing from 49th street installed in Sept 1996. None of the items are NLA.

I think guidstrand may have built a propane powered LT5 in a GS 90
cool idea I don't remember ever seeing a convertable GS90 that would be cool
