I am going to get new wheels for my car, and really like the "a-molds" but realized the factory zr1 offset wheels don't have any "lip" , aren't "deep-dish".
I prefer that look , and have only seen people using the Fikse wheels with a lip.
Since we are wider in the rearend , shouldn't we have more options than the regular body c4's? I was surprised to see the "Camaro" offset aftermarket zr1 a-molds have a lip , but our offset aftermarket don't. Almost tempted me to get the Camaro offset wheels with a spacer HAHA. How dangerous are spacers?
Is there another popular option that people use on these cars?
Just curious to what people have on their cars.
Post up pics or links to pics ... thanks for the help :fahne:---

As for as the Z goes I am running a set of Gen II Dymags but they were original on the car and fill out the rear end nicely. The biggest goof I EVER pulled with wheels was selling my Fikse FM5's off of the GS they were perfect on that car. I ran an 18x10 up front and 18x12 out back and it was perfect (Offset, size, lip, look, etc was perfect). The only real issue was finding a 335/18 tire for the rim however I am having the same issue with the 335/17’s on the Z now. For your 90 the Gen I dymags would look great and not many of the around either.

Yeah, those Shelby wheels are nice.
Thanks for the suggestions ... I will check out the Dymags.
What gen z06 wheels are you running Xfire?
I forgot to mention I have the Lingenfelter Big Brake kit up front which BARELY clear the 17" A-molds that I have on the car right now:

You are in the same spot I am in. The Gen I Dymags will not clear those brakes. I have AP Racing Brakes on the Z and Rippie's Wilwood set up on the 89. I don't think the shelby wheels will clear either. You can either refinsh the A Molds go Fikse, CCW, or Gen II Dymag for starters. Just make sure whoever you use that they know that brake set up is on the car. Most use a custom hat on the rotor that will push the wheel out some and this will cause wheels with an offset for a normal C4 (Z or not) to stick out.
Daniel
BTW those look like aftermarket A-Molds if you run OEM you will have just a hair more room.

You can move the center collar out on the Series Ones to clear. I haven't done it but some of the other guys here have done it.

Sometimes clearance is an issue regarding the radius of the wheel and not the face of the caliper. =Jeff= has Series ones and the C5 calipers he had were very close to the barrel of he wheel. He also needed to move the hub outward for clearance. His Brembos have better clearance.

That seems to be how these calipers are with the current A-Molds... the radius is REALLY tight, I almost think the passenger side has made contact and dragged a little at some point. ---

Alwayscode390,
I also run Fikse Profil 10s - 18x9.5 front and 18x11 rear - hand polished by Jagdpanzer.
I suggest that you consider possible conversion to 6 piston (front) and 4 piston (rear) hi-perf calipers while selecting which wheels to go with. Deep dish style wheels exudes "performance" look from the 70s to 90s. But deep dish design don't work well with modern day hi-perf calipers.

Just yesterday I was talking to the wheel company about making me a set of wheels. If I can get a commitment on back spacing and center cap design Id like to get the place a deposit and get these on the car by next summer. When it comes to depth on the face of a wheel Im the opposite,I want the wheel to be as flush as possible but still have a little dish but not much.I want the rear in an 18-12 with more material on the mating surface of the wheel with the face of the front-rear wheels to be close with the additional depth in the lug area on the rear wheel.I was talking to Fikse awhile ago about a set of wheels but they wouldn't really work with me as far as a custom offset regardless of what I paid for.Couldnt understand this considering they make the wheels right here in the U.S.Theres a guy about 30 miles for me that has an original set of BBS RS wheels in ZR-1 sizes thats talked about selling, thats the wheels that was hot 20+ years ago so if I get a chance to buy these, and they arent garbage then thats my first choice.Silver BBS RS wheels on a white ZR-1,nothing else looks better than that as far as Im concerned. If that doesn't work out, this is what Ill have made.http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a136/FLYTYM/pt01twentytwelvelocopy-1_zps0ec861a3.jpg

I just use Mothers Mag & Aluminum Polish through the driving season after washing the car. Quick and easy.
I put a light coat of car wax on them before I cover the car for the winter and in the spring I use Simichrome Polish once and start over again.
I'm sure many products work well. If your car is garage kept and you wipe the wheels down after each wash, polished wheels are very easy to keep up with.

Can Carter do center caps for any wheel? Laser etch in black?
I would say yes to any wheel. We just have to communicate on dimensions if I do not have the caps in my file. I do all work on my CNC so NO laser etch. I can do the caps in black then machine the cap so the machining shows thru in silver then I clear coat the caps to seal it.
Thanks, Carter :handshak:
