Can anyone explain what these are? I receive them every so often in my email. I believe they are inquiries as to whether I'm a paying member of the registry or not. What concerns me is even though I am, for some reason I get overlooked as one.

This message is a "probe" for your subscription to the ZR1NETREG list.
You do not need to take any action to remain subscribed to the list. In
particular, you should not reply to this message. Simply discard it now,
or read on if you would like to know more about how this probing
mechanism works.

A "probe" is a message like the one you are reading, sent to an
individual subscriber and tagged with a special signature to uniquely
identify this particular subscriber (you may not see the signature
because it is in the mail headers). If the subscriber's email address is
no longer valid, then the message will be returned to LISTSERV and the
faulty address will be removed from the list. If the subscriber's address
is still valid, then the message will not bounce and the user will not be
deleted.

It's not a probe for paying members at all.
It's a probe to every member.
It's a probe to see if the address you gave is still valid.
It's a way for the list server to prune off any stale addresses.
It's common practice and especially necessary for large lists.

Ahh, I see. Thank you .

I get one of these "probes" every month or so. It seems like the only ISP I can use over here doesn't accept this type of probe very well. The proxy is pretty stiff here and the censors are even more so.

You would think it would help keep out the spam----but it doesn't.

That should only happen when you are alone, in the woods, at night.:p

Well, that was different.

The Suburban Auto Group car sales is located a few miles from me
in Sandy Oregon. They have been making these trunk monkey commercials
for years. Funnier than a rubber crutch. Never seen that one though.
GREAT STUFF

I'll try - It's an activity probe to see if your email address is still in service from the Corvette Museum (I think). Many years ago MOM provided a ZR-1 registry from a server list on a company server where he worked. Some years ago (about 10) that list was moved to a service provided by the NCM. I just schlepped around the NCM website and can no longer find the mechanism to sign up for or remove yourself from the many lists the NCM provides. You used too be able to personally set and change LISTSERV preferences too. Maybe MOM can add some clarity ...

BTW, there is no connection between the LISTSERV service and being a paid member of the zr1netregistry.

The above seems to be what has already been stated a few times already.

I will add that if you look at the probe text you should see a "unsubscribe" link for getting off the list. Be aware that you are then "off the list" for getting any mail from the server not just the probe.
