I'm about 15 miles East of Jim in Reisterstown MD Baltimore Co. We have not had electricity since Monday, but otherwise unscathed... 2-3' of snow in W VA mountains... The storm was nowhere as bad as it could have been here... NJ and NY coast areas are decimated... My heart goes out to all those who suffered the worst damage.

All good here in Blue Bell, PA. Thanks for asking. Some of our friends in Long Island and NJ have not been as fortunate. I feel blessed to have sustained nothing more than a bit of wind damage, and power-off for two hours, etc.

Day 3 still no power, no cell service. I'm on a generator while I'm posting because my land line still works so my modem is working too. We only run the gen for a couple of hours at a time, just to heat up the house and run the water pump. Also to save fuel too. Took a ride this afternoon just to see if any gas stations were open. The majority were not but the few that were had lines of people with gas jugs in their hands waiting to get gas. Not to mention all the cars in line out in the street waiting too. I have enough gas to last another day and a half then I will be with them too...jimmy

I was stuck in Miami with several freinds for a wedding when Sandy hit. My wife and kids were home (not a great feeling). Everybody on the block lost power and everybody lost 1 to 3 trees but all where safe. I ended up renting a car to drive home because airlines said maybe a Friday flight out. We left 10:30 Tue. morn. and got to my house 5:30 am Wed. (made good time) To my surprise when I got a block away from my house I noticed we had POWER! My house has become a hub for freinds to come and stay to shower, eat, and relax when possible. The biggest problem we have now is getting fuel for generators and cars. The Jersey shore by me is gone, all the beach clubs, homes, restaurants leveled! I have several freinds that lost their homes on the water. Would like to Thank! all my Z Brothers who reached out and called me to make sure the family and I were safe. My 2 buddies I was driving were amazed that I had car freinds around the country that cared enough to call. I took the time to educate them on the brotherhood. Thanks again :saluting:

Ricky,
Thanks for reporting in.
We were about to muster up a WAZOO search party to go look for you.
Relieved to hear the family is well and your house was spared from the worst of the storm. Please let us know if you need anything.

You should read Marc Haibeck's description on using the ZR-1 as a fuel tanker. He had to have a generator run for several days and he set up the car as his fuel source. His descripton is on his ZR1Specialist.com website. Of course if you are out of gas and none is available, the story won't help much. Good Luck!--Bob

Rick,
So glad to hear that your family is okay and all of you are holding up under this bad situation. You all be safe!

I hear ya about the fuel situation. I have two gas stations across the street from me and the crowds are starting to get a bit "testy". Man this don't look too good on the essential supplies situation going forward. Most of the local supermarkets look like picked over carcasses out in the desert!

Thanks Tom I totally forgot about the Tanker set up , I'll use this as a last resort. Got fuel this morning at 6am, was driving around and saw a stations lights come on and I turned around and got in a very short line. Now I'm good for awhile.

Again thanks to you and warp ten for the suggestions...jimmy

Auntie "Em ............................ mucho destruction. Some of my life long buddy's lost everything but they're lives. The south facing shore's got a bad beating. The waves on the open bay were pounding our window's in. We had to leave the house and are living at a bud's house in Bluepoint NY as too much mold growing in our house. The house is being gutted tomorrow.

We all lost a lot... more than I care to say (part's etc.) All the lost Bull $hit can be replaced.

When I thought we had it tough. I saw people that lost much much more. Made me happy for what we have left.

Hey. We are alive and well....... We will rebuild and be back better than ever.

Thank's for your well wish's and concern's. It help's. Kiss your loved one's tonight. For life is good.

All is on limited I-Net access, cell etc no gas limited food.

Frank,

Super to hear you are ok. Looks like my old neighborhood in Staten Island got wiped out. So yes things can be worst. BTW, the FBI would be happy to take care of your ZRs and Z06 if you need a place to hold em.

Frank,

Wow! And I REALLY loved that area of Long Island. We would enjoy taking the ferry to Seaside on Fire Island. Great seafood. Incredibly my niece's place on FI was damaged but not destroyed or moved. And they sit right behind the dunes on the south shore of FI.
Be well friend.

Our house is at 8' above mean high tide . I'm figuring the tide was at 10' above mean high tide.
Been there 33-4 year's. And we are at all times prepared for action. Especially this time of year. It's a long story . The short is that we came home to get my wife that was working at home on Monday. My son's raised up pick up just barely go us to the house. In fact it injested water. We came home when the tide was supposed to be going down. As you can see.....yea that was the low tide. The tide just came up from there. And we had to stay. Bad timing. And we never trust the water.
Hey it happened. And we are safe. But displaced (me especially). Plenty of other people made out much worse.

Dom, On a clear day the Fire Island lighthouse can be easily seen in the photo on the open bay.

Day 8 still no power, cell service came back on yesterday. Power at my job came back on at 5:36 tonight so tomorrow will be my first day back to work since last Monday. We had work at various job sites but all were cancelled. Gas is getting easier to find since a lot of other towns got their power back. Only good thing being off for a week I pretty much got all the mess cleaned up. Even got the leaves raked up. Maybe like Big John said in another post well get power back for the next storm headed our way for Wednesday.

Also Kevin I forgot to thank you for suggestion on the ZR-1 tanker too! things were a little hectic last week sorry...jim
