The felt headliner on my painted top has come completely unglued from the pad beneath it. Saggng on my head! I swapped tops and removed the pad and it looks like the adhesive used to hold the pad on was fairly thick and perhaps applied with a brush, almost looks like contact cement but not as stong as the pad was fairly easy to work off the top. Can't tell what was used for the headliner.
I have used spray fabric adhesive in the past with good luck and now have 3M 77 spray adhesive that I think I will use for gluing the felt headliner to the pad. Anyone know if I need a special stronger adhsesive to attach the pad to fiberglass or would 77 work?
BTW, when I put the glass top on I notice it looks like the tinting layer is delaminating at the passenger side edge, up an inch or so in some places. Anyone see this before and is there a fix? -- Bob

Check out the other headliner thread going on at http://www.zr1.net/forum/showthread.php?t=18176

I used 3M Trim Adhesive and even with the FL heat the new cork base and fabric I used are sticking nicely together and to the roof so far.

I went with a cork base instead of the fiberglass pad because there was too much old glue on the pad and I was concerned the new adhesive wouldn't stick properly (and I figured removing it would be a PITA). I did use the pad as a template for cutting the material and the cork, and I stored it for later use if needed.

If you have a Joann Fabrics in your area, they carry the headliner material and the hi temp glue. I did mine last year and it turned out great.

4 x 4 sheet of cork from Home Depot: $8.25
4 x 4 bit of material from Walmart: $7.50
New headliner not drooping on my head: priceless
