Wow....

After spending a day with ZR-1 brothers in Virginia, we installed a few items:

32mm sway bar
new A arms (with new bushings / ball joints) *polished up too!!
new front hubs

C6 Z06 calipers / 1 piece ceramic brake pads / stock Z06 rotors

There is a huge difference, even with Ceramic pads!

Going to install the rear brake calipers / rotors in the coming week. (can't wait!!!)

Thanks to Yun, Gibby, Mark, Matthew ***(new to most), Paul, Mike **(new), Glen and especialy Rich for hosting this!!!!!

Lots of pictures and will document the C6 Z06 brake upgrade for the newsletter.

You do need larger wheels in order to accomodate the large 6 piston front calipers and 4 piston rear.... WORTH IT!

For asthetics and stopping power

Very nice, David! As my Dad would say: "Now you can stop on a dime and get a nickel's change!"

I'm jealous David.

He stole those pics off the web, they don't look anywhere near that good in real life...

Hard to tell from stock brakes to be honest. Also you need badly fitting "Carlos Fandango" wheels to accommodate the calipers...

Boy that looks tight on the Fiskes! Can we see pics of the adapters?

Dom, my apologies. I said the adapters were much larger than C5/C6 adapters, but it's the opposite

See the C6 Z06 adapters (shiny new) and the C5/C6 attached to the caliper

I'm 100% joking - they look great, wish I could run the wheels needed for that set-up.

Thanks for the C5 set-up David

What did you do for the E-Brake?

Will the late model GTO spare wheel work with the C6 calipers and rotor size?

Dave,

The C6 adapters look smaller but it looks as if the bolt holes for the caliper attaching to the spindle match up. Looks like with spacers and re-engineering of the spindle holes, you could eliminate the adapter unless you need it to add clearance for the 14" rotors. But that's what the bolt bosses on the C6Z er may be for. Would need to measure "height" of caliper compared to C4. Should be .5" taller. Anyway u could tell us that Dave?

Great Job Brother Dave! Those calipers just look proper sitting in the wheels. Your Z is looking stronger with every mod you do. What's next on the mod hit list?

Dave,
Brakes look great! Let me know when your ready to sell those Fiske's :)

Sorry we didn't get to the back setup....but without some of the small SNAFU's, we problably could have done it.

David,

Are those plastic stick-ons? Where did you get them? Ebay?

Ha, ha, ha...

Ok! - Since I know what is involved, I decided I am going to do the same. Except w/ my Fikse's I am gonna turn to Superlites.

I hate to mention it, but those ceramic pads are leaving the same heat checking on your rotor as on the pair of C5 rotors I just tossed in the recycling bin. I'd switch to semi-mets before you crack those discs.

The ceramics don't transfer any heat through and the rotor suffers.

Maybe, but they've been working really well for 38,000 miles now!

Mike,

I'm not planning on tracking the car and so far, no issues with braking performance.

I will look into other rotors, but for now... I'll see how they do

thanks!
