I believe the Snake Skinner car-cars have SS emblems on the rear bumper in place of ZR-1.The car Lee has put together is built along the same lines as a Snake Skinner.Lee,on second thought if you painted the car white Id say go for it but then again only the extreme hardcore ZR-1 fanatics would know what it is and then again the explanations about what it is comes back into play.

Lee, checkout the 1994 up S10 SS emblem. I had a new 94 ss and it seems like the emblem was smaller than what you have on your car. They have a black background with red letters type emblem also.

Lee,
I for one like it. You should do the SS center caps as well. Are you considering loosing the flip up lighting and removing the fogs for the F-Body lighting? The SS hood was not even cut for the flip up lights. That with the side gill treatment and you would have it down. I don't know if the size of the SS is off or it is the color? but something is just a bit off. Do you plan on leaving it red?

Headlights were from an 88 GP.....not sure I will go that far....the hood was a Toldeo Pro hood made od Kevlar and a lexan rear window, with a makeshift alum frame. Wish GM would make cars like that for production as Porsche and Lambo have done... the Porsche RS America is a great example of how porsche miixes up their lineup to keep it interesting, imagine how much more interesting our cars would be if the 6K+ produced offered more unique and rare options like the 60s cars.

Lee, I agree with Daniel there is nothing wrong with owning a replica. Most of us work for a living so we probably will never be able to own a car like that. However, if you had a replica of a Snake Skinner I think it would draw a lot of attention.

I think I read somewhere, years ago, that Zora considered all Corvettes to be at the "SS" or Super Sport level, that's why they never had an SS Corvette for sale to the public. So unless you are creating, cloning, or doing a replica or tribute to a Snake Skinner, I would not use the SS badges on that car. (JMHO)

In the past, I'd never been a huge fan of the word CLONE, when the real deal could be bought. Mostly COPO cars and GTO's mde from Lemans models.
BUT
Being that you can't buy a Snakeskinner like you can a COPO, I wouldn't worry too much about it being called an actual fake. To me, it's more of a tribute (not a tribute car in the Barrett Jackson sense) to what GM did when they built the actual Snakeskinner car.

Mr. Jackson, uses the word Tribute to sale cars of lesser value, it sounds better than "Fake" or "Clone". To a true collector fake is what they are. But a good Street Machine would have more value than a "tribute car".

Dave Bennett always called my white '89

But if the Greenners get their way that will all end; Massachusetts tried making it illegal to run anything other than factory stock exhaust in their state.
Right now in some states if your vehicle mods are illegal in their state you can be ticketed and impounded.

43 years of collecting Corvette items that have caught my attention. From badges, gear shift knobs, door knobs (spare off my '54), articles, photos, bits and pieces that I have broken over the years but that have special significant memories to no one other than me, and other items branded with the Corvette logos.
