Well... As many know I sold my 90 ZR-1 recently. The new owner will be picking it up shortly. It's sitting patiently and safely waiting for John in my garage.
The other part of the garage was looking a little empty. Two weeks ago I was surfing the local Craig's list and found something that was just too good a deal to pass up. More importantly the wife actually liked it and urged me to go for it.
Here it is... A 2005 C6 Z51, mn6 36k miles for $9k under book!

I have to say I luv this thing.

Looks like another ZR-1 (and there will be another ZR-1) will have to wait for now.
I'll beg for forgiveness now. As always I'll follow the goings on hear with great interest.

Looks like a nice car and a good deal. Technology moves on, probably makes the old Z feel like an antique. Has about as much rarity and uniqueness as an Impala. Hopefully someday you'll be back. I'll keep my outdated ZR-1.

Like the new toy. Heck I even like the Grummin in the background. Looks like one that used to hang around the south Florida area.

Would be interested in your opinion on this car after a few months of ownership. Am looking for a Z06 and perhaps a GS to add to the mania. Wife says find more parking space first. :handshak:

You really didn't do anything so bad, and I can assure you you can have your cake and eat it too. In May 1990 I sold my '88 Porsche 911 Targa and purchased a brand new red 1990 ZR-1 from my local Chevrolet dealer...the only one he ever sold. I had had Corvettes before, but this one was something else. Well, a year or so later I noticed that the demand for these cars was on the wane and the prices were dropping. I panicked, sold my ZR-1 very quickly and returned to Porsche ownership. I stayed with Porsche for quite a few years, but the thrill was wearing out. In 2011 I sold my 911 and purchased a brand new Corvette Grand Sport. What a great car! It seemed to do everything well. A few months after my GS purchase, a young friend of mine found and bought a nice, clean 1991 ZR-1. Once again I was bit the bug. Crude and rude as it was when new (and still is), I fell in love with it. After going in it to Carlisle last August, I made up my mind that I had to have another ZR-1...and still keep the 2011 Grand Sport. Once back home I was fortunate to find a 1990 red ZR-1--almost an exact duplicate of the one I bought new more than 20 years ago. Now there are two Corvettes in my garage...and I love them both. When I'm in the mood for rough and tough, I find myself behind the wheel of the ZR-1. When I want to drive in fast but refined mode, though, the GS is the car of choice. Moral of the story truly is you really can have your cake and eat it too. Enjoy your C6 because it's a great modern car, but get yourself another ZR-1 before prices go out of sight. These cars are so unique that once this crazy economy straightens out I predict they will achieve collector status and collector price. Get another one soon and enjoy it to drive. I know I do. Here are pictures of my two cars to tempt you.

I just read my post. Of course I meant to say "more than 20 years ago". No one ever accused me of being good at math...or typing!

Hans, congrats on the purchase, sorry to hear that you won't be back in a ZR-1 immediately.

Technically "more than 10 years ago" is still accurate

That's quite true, it is technically correct. Nonetheless, after realizing my goof I went back and corrected my original post.

Thanks guys! I have two buddies here that have ZR-1's so I won't be far from the action. I will probably come along to Vegas this fall with one of them.
I have no doubt there will be another Z in my future, just a matter of time.

Beautiful car and after next weekend when I get Hans' old Z out of his garage and give him back his space, I'll bet there will be no end of improvements on the new beauty. John

Congrats Hans on the nice score and good price.

Sure as GSJoe pointed out you can have you cake and eat it as well.

Someday you will add the Z back into the fold.

Yes, it's the XLR-V Supercharged Caddy. The wheels are 20" Foose... It came with the stock wheels and new run-flats as well.

Momma is happy!

;)

Sorry for the intrusion Hans...
