Original Black oil filter for a 1990 ZR1

Anyone know where I might find an original filter or two? Or even a good digital photo of the label?

Did you by the 6 for the 199.20 + shipping which closed yesterday? Ouch!!!

If they are "real" could you take a picture of the sticker on the side and e-mail it to me?

Personally I use a Mobil 1 Filter which is gray, but can be painted black if desired.

The oil filters on E-Bay are the right 970C replacement. The NOS original black oil filters did not have "Duraguard" on the lable. The NOS part number for the 1990 ZR is 25011441, is a black AC PF970. It could also be a late 90's ZR with AC 970C, part number 25014155. 1991 LT5 Oil Filter is also the same AC PF-970C bearing the 25014155 part number. The NOS filters for 90 thru 95 ZR's were painted black and use an adhesive-backed label that has a silver background and black lettering. Later replacements were AC brand PF970-C but were painted blue or black with the word "DURAGUARD" on the label. NOS labels do not have bar coades on the lables, the replacements have the bar code.

Today I went to my local Crovette Parts Dealer, and found another 970C, last three part number 155. It was blue. I think I may have a lead for the 90-95 black original in europe. I will let all know if I have any joy.

I also contacted the largest restoration battery company in the US. The owner stated, unless he could acquire the original tool stampings from GM the 75 series Freedom batteries cannot be reproduced. I am going to bring this up at the NCRS National Convention in August 06. I will advise that all 1984 to 1993 (2007 NCRS judging) batteries will not be able to show, for judging, as original. They will have to change the judging guide because the shelf life of a maintenance free battery is estimated at 6 years, this not even on a car. Less when subjected to frequent charge, discharges. I will let all know what the outcome may be.

They will not change the standard. I and many others have waged this argument with Roy Sinor over laquer paint. Lacquer paint is illegal in 22 states, and is an environmental hazard. Yet , instead of allowing full points for clear coat, they decided to give half point credit if you "flatten" the color in the door jambs and hood ledge.

And don'nt forget the inside of the trunk lid, water channels in the engine compartment and the trunk area to include the doors (inner area jams).

Don't remind me. I had to go through that with my 67. The first time threw I lost 85 points for paint being cc/bc.

I have a original PF970C, with the Duraguard labeling, probably not correct but I will sell one.
