Just got back from the Show......it was a great experience..I'd have to say the most stressful part was the operations section......thankfully everything worked as it should...

Was the only C-4 there.....the judges were all very impresed with the original condition of this car and had a hard time finding much wrong, other than the replaced windshield, the car had a few minor deductions, one and two points here and there......

The head judged hinted that he doubts the total deductions will end up being no more that 20 points overall.....will find out when all the scoring sheets are mailed in 2 weeks....factoring in the bonus points for extingusher, batt disconnect and NCRS sticker he mentioned could be a 99% score....and mentioned they would like to use the car for Judge Training in the future.

Thanks to those who offered their tips thru private messages and on this forum........and for anyone thinking about NCRS judging, ...go for it,... I learned a few new things today and all the judges were extremly helpful.

Now its time for a beer!!........

Congratulations! That process takes real dedication... Now go drive and enjoy your ZR1 and don't sweat the small stuff. I'm trying to overcome desire for car to remain a super low mile perfect museum piece... Car is at Reflective Images for concours detailing; won this at last year's Carlisle event and waited till I made everything on car as good as it could be before a cashing in on professional detailing... The car is now perfect, but only for now ☺

Congrats! We've not met and I'm new, but do own a very low miles stock Z. I struggle with "to drive or not to drive" but have decided that driving matters more than judging....seems every one has a relatively original Z, so I just need to enjoy it while I can still see out of the windshield! Take care of it, yes; keep all parts I swap, yes; and drive it, yes! Again congrats! It is not easy to score that well!!!!

Kevin,
Patriot Place, Foxboro, every other Thursday nite, 5/31, 6/14, 6/28 etc. I'm not sure when I'll go up again, it's a hour and a half to get there. Post here or PM me if you think you'll be going some week. About 2000 cars last time!
How about the "10th Annual Corvette Day" @ the Larz Anderson Auto Museum of Transportation, 15 Newton Ave. Brookline MA (neat place!) this Sunday June 10 9am -3pm, $20??? www.mot.org (http://www.mot.org) I'm going with a few members of our local club, "For Corvettes Only", see ya there? It's put on by the NCRS chapter that just judged your car (not a judged show). Google map it, it's a pain to find...
Then of course, Paul Masse (you know where that is...) on Saturday, June 16. Two years ago I won $100 playing Vette trivia and last year, Red Sox tickets! Finally put this Corvette thing on a paying basis!

This is awesome. And since I'll never see one :p do you mind if I ask what you lost points for?

The "biggest" deductions were for non original windshield (13 points) and non operating seat bolsters (6 points) and replacement Delco battery (10 points).....and minor deductions for small scratch on 1 shock absorber, creasing in leather seat ( 1 point each)....Kevin

Non original windshield? What happened to the original one? What's the mileage?
Congrats on your Top Flight.

Despite the fact the car was stored in a controlled enviroment and only had 3k original miles on it, the original owner said the delamination got so bad it had to be replaced,,,,it now has a PPG Solarguard windshield that looks like the original except for no radar cutout...

This is a special interest area of Corvette ownership that I have never been associated with. I used to show a 72 Pewter/black 454 coupe and can appreciate the level of detailing up to that point, but NCRS is waaay beyond that. Congratulations for a job well done!

FWIW: I have remade the PF970 oil filter stickers and they are a really good copy of the original. The new ones are laminated vinyl and much more durable with the same sheen & look of the original paper ones. I am most interested in seeing how they do in NCRS judging.
