View Full Version : HIL KING back in the saddle

WARP TEN
05-18-2012, 01:54 PM
Ever since my wife moved me into a two car garage in 2007 and made me sell the HIL KING, I have been twitching. Well, no more. My '95 Polo Green/Beige #409 just came off the truck this morning, bought form the California owner out of Hemmings. With only 20,000 miles it looks good and as expected. Completely stock, two tops. As soon as possible it will be off to Marc Haibeck for servicing and a few mods. With a nod to Star Trek, my new Illinois plate will be "WARP TEN". Sorry I missed BG this year, but I will try next year and will also try to get to Bloomington Gold in June (Sunday only). Can't wait to do some driving!--Bob

Actually, warp 10 was breeched in "That Which Survives" which is the seventeenth episode of the third season of the original Star Trek (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Trek:_The_Original_Series).
Kirk, Spock & Bones transport down to an interesting planet and discover that an extinct race left a computer to protect their outpost.
The alien computer projects a beautiful female assassin to kill everybody one at a time.
The assassin beams up to Enterprise and disables the Emergency Overload Bypass which sends Enterprise screaming off into parts unknown at ever increasing speed.
Scotty manages to save the day at the last second but not until they achieve warp 14.2.

And there you have it.

Yes TC the first person in a stable environment was Tom Paris. Did the TOS crew pilot the original enterprise? Nope aliens using thier technology. Also the dreadnaught episode really bad things happened at warp ten in STTNG and the ship was embedded in an asteriod after exceeding warp 10. Also the Kirk years warp calcs were off in the star trek fan universe.

But I digress lol GC
