Hi guys, been a while since I've been online here. Ive been building a customers 1990 ZR1 over the winter and have it all back together and dyno tuned by Marc Heibach..... car runs great!
Here is my problem, and the more I research the more I find it's somewhat of a common problem. When the car reaches 5500RPM or more the alternator shuts down and you can notice all the lights on the car dim until you drop below 5500RPM's. The alternator is freshly rebuilt, but speaking with Heibach about this he suggested the alternator pulley was too small causing the alternator to overspin and shut down. Easy fix right? Just install the correct pulley and it's fixed! Problem is I cannot find the correct pulley so was wondering if anyone has the factory OE sized pulley or alternator they'd be willing to sell?
Heibach suggested ZR1Products.com, but also says they don't manufacture their pulley any longer and don't plan on making them again. Then he suggested I post here to see if anyone may have one laying around they'd be willing to part with.
If anyone can help me out or point me in the right direction, you'd be a life saver! I've got the car completed, buffed and waxed, ready to deliver to my customer..... this the only thing holding me back. With the nice weather coming, I can imagine the owner will want to be driving his Z as soon as possible! (I would!)
Thanks in advance for any info you may have!!!
