C4 ZR-1 at Katech getting a check-up. On the chassis dyno it put down 386rwhp. Ported heads/intake, headers, Corsa, tune, clutch. Only 3500 miles on the car.

Katech is an excellent company. It'd be a nice addition for them to enter the playing field.

Katech...Did they not prep the LS7 GT1 Corvettes for the ALMS before Corvette moved to GT2 last summer???

An LT5 with ported heads (and everything leading to it) has a heck of a lot more potential than 385 at the wheels. Sounds too like they didn't tickle 7K AND it might have stock exhausts too. (Maybe they did go to 7k. My ear is "tuned" for that 7200 dyno sound, and the pitch of that motor didn't sound like 7000, let alone 7200 which is what I'd expect for a fully ported motor. Hellz Bellz, Dom has a graph around here, and Marc's wall is papered with dyno sheets in the 400 rwhp range resulting from plenum/IH porting only!)

I'm curious as can be 'bout the setup on that car at Katech. Hmmmm.....

They did not do the work on the car...just a tune up....see the notes , mods done in the early 90s

Yeah, I "got that". But, my poorly made point was look at the improvements in performance today's mods have produced over 90's era full porting. Just marveling (again) over the potential these motors have, and how much was left on the table when GM went to the LSx, I guess.:o

KaTech is top notch. Weren't they responsible for early TransAm motors?

Katech is a great company. We are fortunate here in Michigan, Jason of Katech, and other members will come by and do a program at our club meetings from time to time. Really great people, and build some dynomite and reliable motors and cars.
