I persons ideas from Arizona Corvette Enthusiast (ACE) forum
Damn....thank you DIP SH??S from last weekend, who caused all the grief for this weekend's Cruise on Central !!!!!!
You can thank the a?? wipes who showed up last weekend to the parking lot who didn't know the cruise was canceled last weekend. Then, upon finding out the cruise had been rescheduled, it's reported that a number of cars started doing burnouts and donuts in the mall parking lot and tore down the signs placed in the parking lot to tell others about the rescheduled (apparentyl in protest ?). There was also a lot of trash that people left behind in the parking lot instead of taking it with them. The local neighborhood's also complained about noise and other activities that took place on their streets
Nancy Perry got the call to an emergency meeting (on Tuesday, IIRC) with the city powers, law enforcement, and Park Central mall exec's, to express their concerns over what went down....and the possibility of pulling the permits that allow this cruise to take place. After the *** chewing, Nancy Perry Productions (her business) agreed to physical oversite by both city officials and law enforcement who attended the cruise so they could decide if further cruises would be permitted. Law enforcement were told to show maximum exposure and zero tolerance for any shinnanigans, to include lawn chairs on the sidewalk and standing in the streets. Many of the cops on duty were young car guys themselves (I spoke to a few of them who've attended the cruise in the past as participants), and they felt like *** to have to enforces rules and traffic control which effectively shut the cruise portion down...so don't blame them.
So....based on what city officials and mall exec's saw last night, along with input by law enforcement on the activities they had to address, they will determine if there will be any more Cruise on Central events.
A few bad apples that completely and totally FU??ED UP an awesome spring and fall car and cruise event that's been going on for at least the last 12 years or so.
I hope that Nancy is somehow able to resurrect this event for October (the planned fall event), and eventually, get back to the tire smokin' big cruise that it was last October.
