I had some thicker black plastic rectangular pieces (about 3" x 8") in front of the airbox, I was told they were part of the factory's attempt to deflect water. Perhaps that evolved over the years into the piece you have there?

It's off a 1991 and my friend thinks its stock

I've never seen it and it doesn't look factory

Yes, I had this piece on my 90 as well. I think its to keep water out.

Huh, mine must be gone, cus I've never seen that thing and I had my whole engine bay apart.

My 90 has one of those.... the O.O. never changed the A/F. I'd have to say that is a correct water deflector, minus the NASCAR tape that is! :dancing
