View Full Version : A few ECM Questions...

I would appreciate some help...

1. Is our ECM case the same as any of the LT1' cases?
2. What are the part numbers for the 4 ECM connectors in the case?
3. Are the individual connectors for our ECM case the same as any LT1?
4. Are these connectors still available?

And yes, I have a ECM project...

I'm also looking for a bad ECM that I can use for parts...

Cheers,
Ron

Ron,

EFI Connection can hook you up with the connectors and pins.

I can't link directly to it, but go to this link:

http://www.eficonnection.com/eficonnection/ConnectorSearch.aspx

and then select 22 cavities, all colors and all genders.

The connectors will come up. Order one of each and the appropriate terminals and you are good to go. Warning, it will lighten your wallet a bit!

The LT1 ECM is in an entirely different case (aluminum body). However, the L98 ECM appears very similar externally. I believe that's the '727 ECM.

I'm actually looking for the connectors that are on the ECM not the harness...

Thanks...

I think those aluminum cased ones are only in the '94-'96 LT1 cars. The '92-'93 cars have the same case as the ZR-1. I used to have a '93 LT1 and the ECM looked the same as the one in my '90 Z.

Ahh, good to know!

In THAT case.

the connectors on the 90-91 L98 and 92-93 LT1 will work

the ECMs share the SAME PCB connectors if I am not mistaken..

I have 2 of the 7727s which could work for parts for your project. However, the internals are different.

The LT5 ECM's are a much thicker case than the L98/LT1

Hmm did not know that Im sure Cliff did however.

Did the MY 94 and MY 95 ZR-1 get the aluminum ECM covers like the LT1 and LT4 received later in 96. Or did all Zs stay with the same plastic ECM?

My 94 has same ECM box as earlier ones minus plastic cover. I believe 95 was the same.

So,,, its in an aluminum cover? GC

Ron,

If you're looking for the female connectors (I assume to make a conversion harness), I have searched and have not found anything out there. If you were to take a bad ECM and desolder the connectors from the ECM main board, you would have something that would plug into the engine harness, but would not really be suitable for a conversion harness.
If that's not where you're headed, I apologize. Through my research, I have come to the conclusion that Delphi never made any female versions of those connectors other than the ones used for the ECM circuit boards. You could give Mike, the owner of EFI Connection, a call. He may be able to help.

I believe all the ZR-1 ECM's have the same basic black steal case... Only the covers and decals are different from 93 up...

Yes but for a conversion harness, he could use 2 sets of PCB connectors and wire them in a ECM box, then create another set to plug in to the box then the new ECM

just a thought

I think he means the wiring cover, not the case of the ECM itself.

Kurt,

You wouldn't have a part number for the connecter would you?
