Help identify block #'s?

can anybody help decode this for me? looks like early 90's build, but was hoping to verify vehicle VIN. where to locate VIN on block? thanks.

L5801726 reflects a '90MY VIN but the check-digit on the VIN would be a (5) and not a (1) as the snapshot seems to reflect. Maybe the Check digit isn't a factor?

2/27/90 date code? The julian date 227 - 90 I wouldn't think would work if the VIN is correct. 227 would be something middle of August.
