Thanks for the help GC

Yep ok thats is one foam square per cam cover and one wear strip on the front edge of the cam cover right? Any other plastics under the cam cover?

I got the foam squares from Marc H. Used one per cam cover. Actually, I only replaced the pass. side. So far that appears to have been enough to reduce oil crankcase pressure. Obviously, if u are still in process of building motor, I would use one square for each cam cover. What "wear strip" are you describing?

The wear strip consists of two parts....a bracket with two small screws (use red loctite) and the wear strip clipped onto the bracket shown for the passenger side. You can actually see the wear strip through the oil filler hole with oil cap removed.

The square hole to the right between the wear strip and first spark plug hole fill with scotchbrite pads and hold in place with wire clip through the two small holes you can barely see top and bottom.

Ok thats what I needed to know I think I need to find another bracket. SO the wear strip slides into the bracket that is secured by the two screws?

The wear strip has two clips one on each end and you just snap it on as it is flexible and the clips separate a bit when you snap it on. The two clips fit in the two slots of the wear strip on each end. Look on Jerry's webe site search for cam cover wear strip for a picture of the wear strip bracket and screws.

Thanks Cliff got it ;)

I will add a note in that 4th post that each engine only requires TWO Cam Covers :sign10:

fill with scotchbrite pads and hold in place with wire clip through the two small holes you can barely see top and bottom. Use Scotch Brite (http://www.zr1.net/forum/showthread.php?p=106552)

Yessir. I did that. Then I read somewhere about some concern about the Scotch Brite residue getting into the motor.:(

I've not heard/seen any evidence of harm related to SB, so I'm not in a panic to pull my covers and replace them. But, if I had the covers off again for anything, anytime soon, I'll get a couple squares from Marc and that'll be that!

I used the Scotch Brite on mine. In fact, its still there on the driver's side.
I removed it from the passenger side cam cover because I thought it may have been dense enough to where it was causing the crankcase to pressurize at WOT. I saw a small puddle of oil at the bottom of one of the cam cover bolt bosses. The bolt is next to the vent tube. After having replaced the Scotch Brite w the foam, I have not seen the oil in that bolt boss again. I have no indication that the Scotch Brite has caused any other issue with the motor after ~3500 miles.

I have been testing some new material, imersed 1/2 in Mobil 1 syn oil, @ 300F for 2 hrs with no deterioration. I like the mesh & plan to cut it into the right size & put it up on my store. No pictures yet. Will post soon.

At what miles on the Scotch Brite did you remove the Scotch Brite on the passenger side? What was the condition of the Scotch Brite when you removed it?

Both Intake and Exhaust or just Intake?
Are you sure you can handle it :D

I have to say with Pete's cams.......I cannot keep the tires stuck to the asphalt in 1st, 2nd, or 3rd. I am now looking at Nitto 555R Drag Radials for the rear and Nitto 555 Extreme Performance for the front

What were you full list of mods again? Are you running 4:10s Fidanza?

I think you need to be judicious with it. If its packed to dense it will clog which is what appeared to happen w mine. Oil tends to collect on it and that impedes the vapor. The telltale for me was the small pool of oil in the bolt boss right next to the vent tube. I would clean it and it would seep back. I would also get a burning oil smell when I would accelerate hard. Had multiple sources of small oil leaks.
Motor probably has 2k miles on it.
