Anyone see Joe Shown's car in the running? Got some press in Super Chevy magazine.

The OUSCI was a lot of fun. I drove my 415 1,300 miles each way to Vegas and then on to Pahrump from Nebraska. I cruised at 80 MPH and checked the mileage once on the way out and then coming back with a MPG of 22 and 24. Not bad for 660 HP. I did not compete in the rally portion and received no points in the car judging. Did so-so in the hot laps and autocross but did manage to finish in the top ten in the acceleration/braking event. The car could not have performed better. The only problem was the skill of the pilot. I think the program is scheduled to re-air on the 11th on Speed Channel. I wish they would have had a one mile event. There was not a car entered that could have outrun the 415.

So what issue of Super Chevy was the car shown in? I looked at the April issue and did not see it. Someone told me that it also showed up in Vette Magazine.

It could have been Chevy High Performance, sorry I will verify. Just read it and put it back on the shelf!

There is also a nice picture of your car at http://www.optimainvitational.com/event_gallery/2011/
under the road rally collection.

Hello Frank and scholtmj,

Thanks for the heads up on the magazines and for the salutation. I have kind of faded out of the active ZR-1 scene except when I take the 415 out of the barn for our annual SORC here in Nebraska. I do take the car out sometimes when the weather is nice and validate its performance. I bought a 2011 ZR1 in October and enjoy it greatly. Someone asked me to compare the cars in terms of power. I described the ZR1 as very strong yet refined. The 415 I described as brutish and violent. No doubt the new one is overall a much better car, and it should be. However, a C6 ZR1 will be humiliated should it's driver be unwise enough to line up with a 415, or better yet, a 440 ZR-1. The LT5 is amazing and my 415 car stunned a bunch of folks (185 MPH) during our one mile competition in the August SORC. The closest N/A car (750 HP Viper) was five MPH slower than the old ZR-1 in the mile. A 710 ZR1 was 7 MPH slower. Marc built for me a very nice engine. The 415 also gets much better mileage than the ZR1 which is a + for an old tightwad like me.
