I'm considering donating the original version of this Project Status Report to the NCM. It chronicles all of the development of the LT5 from serial #001 to around #062 LT5 engines. This meeting between GM and Lotus, Jan 09, 1988 was a pivotal point for the program. The booklet is almost two inches thick and discusses dyno results per engine, failures, Engineering assignments, development, etc. It also shows specific Prototype vehicles and what LT5 engines were installed in them. It's pure history for us and should be viewed by everyone.

the other option is to make it available to anyone who wants a copy in the registry. once you donate it to the ncm we'll never see it again

great idea, Brett. I would love to be able to pore over all the history in there.

I already have a couple of copies made and bound. I may sell copies to Registry members for near cost if there is a demand.

We should really get them for free since they are really ours but I'd be willing to kick in a little to get my copy of my dyno sheet. You are making a gracious offer and I'll be taking you up on it one way or another.....

Brett,

How about putting the document on DVD or creating a .pdf that can be downloaded?

Not sure I have the time, to be honest. There's a lot of pages.

I'll be in Yorkville this weekend, working on a 54. I need to meet Lee somewhere to get my rear A-molds anyway.

Thanks for the offers!

the museum has no control over the sheets......its a GM edict....I really wonder if they would not show us the material if we were there in person....

I wonder if Shawn Finnigen could help us. Director of the Heritage Collection.

I love watching you guys trying your damndest to get your hands on those dyno sheets! It's quite comical, forget it, this is NEVER GOING TO HAPPEN. GM will NEVER let them go - face it, there is bound to be some jerk out there, most likely an original owner, who may still have the rights to sue, (or at least believe he has those rights), over an underrated engine. Some people will never let it go, rememeber, we are Americans we have the right to sue over anything. As stated before, Ford experienced this, it's not a good thing. Back in '93, Thunder in Stillwater, all who attended, and only those who attended, got the engine build sheet, but no dyno sheet, and Mercury Marine was pressed for them by all of us. But keep trying, it's at least fun to watch you guys work yourselves up over this.

Let them keep them. GM doesn't have one of these. The actual Lotus LT5 Engine Build book for my PhaseII LT5.

Just a suggestion, but perhaps the registry might consider maintaining an electronic library of important historical documents like these and things like Z51Jeff's Jim McFarland letter as an archive available to members.

I'm sure most people with these kind of documents wouldn't mind scanning them (or having them scanned by a trustworthy Registry representative) and it would certainly make all of our lives richer for having access to copies of these documents.

Thanks

Dave

OH, Oh, I have to have a copy....but I like Dave's suggestion. Something that Registry members in good standing would be able to view.

Either way, Brett I'd like to send you the $40.00 and reserve a copy, please old buddy???:o

Oh, on the dyno sheets. I can't see the NCM giving an answer because as Lee points out the sheets are GM's property. I know when I get to the gathering this year I'm going to ask some one if Z owners may be allowed to just read their sheet. Not copy it, no cameras or any secret agent stuff...just let me see it.:)

Tom, no need to send me any $$$$. This may end up being really cheap or free for everyone before it's over with.

The NCM cannot release the Dyno sheets per GM.
