Dittos!

Nothing like a bunch of hp to turn what appears to be a "smooth" country blacktop into a friggin Lasagna noodle!!

I hope so the target or my target was NLT than 450 to the rear. Most folks have told me that estimate is way low

Hey, what is the average price to go from a 33mm to a 36mm and do you have to port anything else to match???

The Average price is about $2500.00 that is not what I paid. The Plenum and the Injector housings were already done from previous work.

IMHO yes or else you won’t get optimal flow which is what you are looking for.

New LT5 porting guys......
Make sure you clean out all the oil passages very well. Not sure if they taped any of the heads oil galley holes up before porting.

Far as driving in traffic goes, using the Fidanza vs. stock dual mass... I initially noticed just a little (teansy) difference in the necessary throttle and clutch let-out, the first drive or two. Now, it is assimilated, and innocueous.

That said, I do like the snappy accelleration. And, if one is considering a 4.10 gear, the reduced rotating mass would make even more sense, I guess.

I like mine...a lot. No plans to return to stock FW.

YMMV

Fidanza's Rule -- Just have to get use to the dreaded "gear rattle".

Having a nice ceramic clutch from Carolina Clutch helps a lot as well IMO.

Given where stock displacement motors are registering with just porting,
I would agree 450rwhp is probably low when factoring in an additional 30ci. Will you be datalogging and using a WB?

I don't notice it, its probably only audible to those sissies that also need 10 layers of quiet mat and exhaust mods to silence "the drone"

I get no gear rattle in cruise, and idle can be mitigated with proper tuning.
If it gets louder at idle, its after a long run when trans fluid is hot. Also using the right trans fluid helps.
I use the BMW Castrol 10W-60.

I agree w/ Dom (and don't think that doesn't worry me! :p)

That said, speaking of trans rattle, it wasn't always so. After the "500" package was complete, including the Fidanza, Marc upped the idle to 750 rpm. That helped. But, the biggest bang was the new injectors (Accels) (My injectors had been replaced at the time I bought the car, but apparently with NOS (aka same ol sh*t) injectors. It didn't show up until Marc was putting the tune on the new mods, except for the rattle - that I figured was "normal" for a Fidanza. Not so! ) Oh, and I run the Castrol synthetic as well. The combo of idle, injectors operating at 100%, and trans oil (especially when it's cold) and there's NO rattle.

Y'all be the judge: Here's mine idling on a cold (windy) day. Granted it is running stock cams - i.e., Pete's cams might be a bit differerent, I'm guessing.

Check it out! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y1YFa8ruh8A)

Stocker hold's good to 540-550 rwhp. I don't like the Fidanza. But then again I don't like Corsa either. I like redheads....... it's just one of those thing's D. Save your money and install a stocker.

After having to deal with tinnitus like symptoms since Oct.. I will gladly use Corsa to eliminate the drone. The low pitched drone/ noises would really irritate my ears especially with the Tinnitus symptoms

I do like the sound of Pete's and the rest of the guys Exhaust systems, but due to my ear issues I have been having, I am not about to change it and regret the drone.. or risk having permanent damage to my ears..

Yep that is the dreaded rattle alright - just a soon as you let off the clutch it starts.

No doubt you have to just put a deaf ear to it all and just accept that it is what it is.

Now I see some of you have made it much better with the tune-new injectors and different tranny oil.

So I guess that you can make it better with a bit o work and fluid choice. This is good indeed.

How about a vid with good sound from one of you who have achieved this goal so we can have a listen to your tamed rattle beast.

This is a vid of my ZR idling after ported heads and Pete intake cams installed. Near end of vid I place the camera on the plenum to illustrate vibration at idle.
I did quite a bit of additional tuning after this which is now incorporated in the tune I sent to GC. We'll see how it works. BTW, idle here is at 750-825rpm.

Wow that is really impressive - no rattle at all -- you were not kidding about solving the issue!

Amazing to me that a tune, injectors and a tranny oil change can make the difference.

Like they say >> Hearing is Believing. And in this case seeing as well.

So no idle rattle now -- How about the rut-rut-rut when lugging 1st or 2nd gear under low rpm? Was this improved as well?

Rattle will appear in idle after long hot run which indicates trans fluid thinning.
No rattle in any gear at any point.
