Last year for christmas my wife got me a craftsman 10" duel action buffer and I just now opened it up and used it this evening with some Maguirs. Its unbelievable. Clear coat deep scratches are just gone.

great thing arent they , just one tip dont press down very hard you can go thru the clear in nothing flat . also use a glaze as you last compound and dont forget to put a coat of wax on when done .

Oh no Im just applying buffing compound with the applicator then let it sit a minute and buff it with the cotton buffing pad. Light pressure in circular motions one spot at a time. Not sure im doing it right but it looks way better than before.

Common misconception, and absolutely not true, especially with one of the low powered 10" bonnet style ones.

Really the only type of tool thats capable of removing enough material to go thru your clear is a rotary style high speed buffer.

Even the Porter Cable doesn't have the cutting power to go thru a clear coat and it oscillates more than 2x as fast as the tool hes using.
