Here are a couple shots of the powder coat work GVD did for me on the top end parts that are going on the 402 stroker build I've got going. Used the same PC our pole dancing fan from Houston rhipsher used, Tiger Drylac Anodized Silver P/N 38/91020.

Good choice. And the best thing is it will last a lifetime. And every time you pop that clam shell hood you'll crack a smile looking at that beautiful pearl under it. The LT5 is the best looking engine ever put in a Corvette period! And thats just all there is to it.
Congrats. If you think it looks good now just wait until its all back together.

That is beautiful.
When they PC it do you have to paint the lettering afterwards, how does that work?
Also very curious of the cost GVD is charging for their fine work?

you pc or paint the parts then hand paint the letters/numbers

Pure eye candy, always great to see quality work with no drama. I heard that a LT5 402 works better in a black car :-D Cant wait till it is all put together, your are going to have one serious ZR-1.

Phil does he sand it to smooth it out or does he use a filler.....or do the pics just make it look mirror smooth?
By the way, I believe the last of the Stillwater Crew wrapped up this week by training new associates in WI.

Lee,
I stripped and sanded down smooth everything except the cam covers before sending them out to Greg. The cam covers went out earlier with the heads which Greg took care of stripping and prepping.
Stripping the plemum was a real bitch, took several applications of aircraft paint stripper, wire brushing and media blasting. Then hit with 150 grit in the sander until the casting grain went away. If I spent a few more hours on it I could have had it polished out. However that would have been to flashy for my tastes.
Phil, you're killin me! That looks fantastic! Congrats! I would love to see that in person one day. Have a Merry Christmas and look forward to having some fun withthe cars next year!

Thanks Ricky, I'm afraid Jersey physics don't apply anywhere else in the know universe. Here in Virginia its has to be red or you are leaving HP on the the table.

I'd say it is all in the prep work performed. That engine has come a long way since Phil stole, I mean bought her in Mass. She is goin to be a great addition to the WAZOO stable. :proud:

As Ricky said the prep work had a lot to do with how the final appearence turned out. The qualities of Drylac Anodized Silver PC material and Greg's expertise were also factors.

Looks terrific Phil. But I'll bet it doesn't have that "golden glow" that you see in the pix in real life. Did you shoot it under warm tungsten light? Try a couple of shots with a white card or paper in the shot and the auto white balance will bring it back to what the true color is.
Whatever, it's beautiful.

Nothing trick just fluorescent pool table lights and camera flash.
Your are way above me when it comes to how to shoot these kind of photos.
I just put it on auto and snap away.
