Hey Guys,

I'm getting a noise from my MY 94 clutch set up that occurs when I depress and release the clutch pedal when stone cold. The noise seems to go away when warm. The popular ''local'' opinion is the pilot bearing. It then becomes a case of the ''might as wells''. So where does one go to get a decent deal on a ''clutch kit'' that inclues the throw out bearing, pressure plate, clutch disk and pilot bearing? With only 23K on the clock I'm betting the FW is just fine.
I've looked at White Racing and he has a Valeo Kit for $381.71 (part # 04-113) that seems to fit the bill. He also has AC Delco Gm for $477.16. ( part # 381378) Any input would be apprecited.

Just my opinion, but...

Very doubtful that your clutch has failed. Likely your throwout bearing is bad.

We have seen many 100k plus clutches get pulled and still good! Not a bad idea to call Bill and ask about throwout bearings / clutches.

I think he has a good source for throwout bearings. (not the cheap chinese knockoff's that fail)

If you want the stock setup then you can get the same Valeo clutch kit from Autozone for about $325. Now if you want to go with a serious clutch setup go with a Fidanza flywheel $325. And a Spec stage 3 +clutch kit $629 from LMPerformance.com

AutoZone gave me a "lifetime" warranty with mine. And, it had the LT5 pressure plate too!

Might give 'em a try. I think I spend $280 for my kit.

Just two more cents from the peanut gallery.:o

If you have the original style pilot bearing, which actually was a roller / needle bearing assembly, there was a TSB on it making noise. I'm not 100% sure when they stopped installing it OEM. You may want to check that over at the netreg site. They did switch over at some point and I'm thinking you have the bronze fluted bushing in place of the bearing type, but I'm not sure.:o

Also, not to be a wise guy on this next bit. When was your last trans fluid change out? What kind of use does your car get, track days? Also, when was your last clutch hydraulic system flush & refill? :o

If you ran down all of the above and know for sure that the hydraulic system is 100% then it may well be the release bearing....just not sure as when they pack it in usually they don't get quiet with more heat in them. Usually it's just the opposite. JMHO.

This is the updated fluted pilot you want GM part # 10125896.

I rebuild the stock pressure plate and make them 100% true.
Brand new VALEO pressure plates are at least .020+ off.
Check it before you install.

$300 w/core

Hey Guys...thanks for all the good info. I was going to trade it off for a 2011 Grand Sport before all this happened. Now I think I'll drive her for another year since I'm going to R&R the entire set up (less hydrulics and FW as they are fine). At 67 years old flat on my back dropping a 6 speed is not something I'm wanting to do any longer.. So the cost of having the repairs done by my mechanic has made my mind up to drive this rascal for a while longer. I did source the parts and have learned a lot in the last 24 hrs about what clutches will work in the LT-5 and what won't.
thanks again:handshak:
