In your opinion,...(Anyone who sprays instead of powder coating)

What is the strongest and best clear coating to buy when spray painting the plenum and cam covers.

probably a flameproof.....I used some 400 degree Wurth and it bubbled and yellowed....VHT has some high temp "flameproof" paints. Might try and see what Eastwood has.....hot spots are coolant tubes

Just an FYI: On my LT5, I used VHT engine paint for the color coat and Duplicolor engine paint for the clear coat because the autoparts store I was at didn't have any VHT clear. After a only a couple warmup/cooldown cycles, the clear started yellowing noticeably in certain areas :censored::mad: . The hotter areas (cam covers & coolant tubes) yellowed more and the cooler areas (most of plenum, TB and airhorn) didn't yellow at all. Oh well, my Z drives great and that's what counts, maybe at some point in the future I will redo the paint. Not anytime soon though.

I don't know if it was just a reaction between the two different brands of paints or just the Duplicolor getting too hot in the yellowed areas, but next time I will be using the VHT clear.

BTDT...

I can attest that Dupli-Color WILL yellow on ya - or at least SILVER does.

Do Not clear it! ask me how I know. I used the LPE paint which is the same as the Dupli-color stuff and the stuff I redid without clear is holding up just fine after 25k miles....don't bother with a clear coat. Oh, I didn't use anything that was hi-heat unless the LPE stuff is that to begin with?
