Hey fellas I'm chasing this oil leak and found the origination spot, at least what I assume to be the origination, please take a look at the pic and if you know how I can fix this, please chime it. It's the drivers side of the motor and it looks like the leak is right where that tab like structure is coming out of the motor. Thanks!!

That is the O ring leaking on the cam positioning sensor. I just R&R'ed mine about 3 months ago for the exact same leak. Not a bad job to do.... its just getting the crap out of the way to access the 8mm bolt that holds it in the head. If you need further, PM me.

Just to make sure we are all on the same page, my leak is on the Drivers Side, so that is the Cam position sensor and not the Crankshaft position sensor, right? Thanks again.

Yes your leak is the Camshaft possition sensor.

Yes your leak is the Camshaft possition sensor.
Specifically the O ring on the sensor itself. Be ready to catch some oil when you remove the sensor ....about 3 or 4 table spoons worth.

Ok, this is good info, apparently common? Is the O'ring commonly available without buying the sensor?

I bought the "O" ring from Jerry's Gaskets, $1.90 for the part

Just finished replacing this "O" ring, it was a breeze and a cheap fix too!! Thanks for all the help with ending this oil leak.

Quick question, I drove the car today and had a spirited drive and have been checking the cam posistion sensor O ring to make sure it remains without leak and noticed that the leak has come back in a much smaller fashion since changing out the O ring.
What gives, does the O ring need to be in there a little while before the leak stops completely? I feel that I tighten it enough, should I tighten more? Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Did you clean out the Cam position block hole before reinserting with a new O-Ring. Also did you coat the ring with some oil before reinserting?

Nope & nope. Good thing I bought two O rings, guess I'll be doing that again. Thx for the suggestions. Hopefully that'll do it.

I also use a bit of permatex gasket sealer on all mating surfaces (including those with gaskets) having to do with coolant (water pump, thermostat housing, all coolant hoses, and injector housing water manifolds).......no coolant leaks ;)

That's how I finally fixed my coolant leak into the #3,4 primary runners.:handshak:
