Yep, done it too many times..
When I bought my z a few months ago, I waited to the last 10 seconds to bid. I know it's almost unethical, but I bid 12500 and the auction ended at $8800. I was pretty sure if I had bid earlier, I would have kept bidding when I was behind and worst of all, many times you are bidding against bidders who have no intent to buy are just inflating the price.
$390 does not seem too high though. When youre done porting it (I'm assuming that's what youre gonna do.., I bet you can make a very good profit (if you don't pay yourself for the hours).

The plenum gives me 2 extra Plenums and 2 extra sets of IHs so I should be set

I'm sure that your not the only one with E-Bay madness (cough). Those plenum's do wear out fast

One time, before I was ebay savvy, I bid on a jeep axle a little too early and somebody else bid past my maximum sane bid level. I was kind of bent out of shape about it during the last 30 seconds or so, I made the other guy pay for it and bid up a $300 part to $700 and stopped with the other guy having the last bid.
In the early days of scams, I had a $200 limit. Seems like only professional sellers do business on ebay now, but it has been a long time since i got caught up in the moment at an auction.

Seems like you see fewer and fewer of these around for sale these days so $390 shipped is a good price in my books, especially if it is complete with all the tube fittings.

I guess it balances out, I picked up a clutch slave for $12 shipped the other day for my 92...
Wonder if there ever be a day when there are no unported intakes.....in 50 years they will be saying that all these cars were 420hp from the factory

Nah, they will be someone reproducing them by then. Don't put it out of the realm of possibility Who ever thought anyone would be reproducing the 60's Mustang..15k. (Just found this out this morning). Imagine a reproduction LT5 or Zr-1 minus the suspension straight from GM...or aftermarket even at prices you can't buy a stroker crank for now. sorry to get off topic.

There must be secret systems in Ebay bidding as I have lost too many times at the last moment from a bidder never seen before it closed.
Very frustrating so I look for Buy it Now items thank make sense for me.

The way I approach ebay is this.
First I look for buy it now items, I really don't like the whole 'bidding against people' idea and would rather just pay a fair price.
Second. If there's no BIN, I will set a watch on the item and decide what I am prepared to pay. When the item gets down to the wire I bid with what I am prepared to pay and no more and I only make that one bid.
Won some, lost others. But at least I don't get caught up in the auction 'madness'. It's amazing how many times you see people bidding stuff up to crazy prices.
