I have ran into a guy at the track years ago said he lost time in the 1/4 with 4.10 but 4.56 he picked up a few tenths....he advised to go with the 4.56

Jeff, what did you come up with? I see Nitro and Yukon brands on ebay. I am in the market as well. Just not sure which brand to buy. Also, some ads say "thick" and others do not. Is there a "regular" and "thick" spec gear? 4:10, 4:11 vs 4:56? Is 4:56 too low for daily driving?

I guess I'm just looking for help to buy the right gears, also.

You will NEVEr hook up 1st gear with 4:56 gears without drag radials or slicks. 1st gear will be useless. On the other hand 4:10s will make 6th gear useable and you can hook up first gear with decent tires and they do not have to drag radials. If you look at the mason dixon videos on this site it will validate that. My car is the black 90 with fikse wheels mounted with BFG kdw's. 60ft. time 1.93, qtr mile: 12:56 @112.2. The car has turned 114 mph in good air although the time was a little slower @ 12.60. I really love the 4:10s . But to each his own. I would not suggest 4:56 for a daily driven street car unless you are impressed by roasting rear tires !

It would be nice if you could fine someone who has some of the old Viper 4:10's stashed away, I love mine. I hear the newer Viper gear from Mopar Performance are made in China, not sure though.

you could go to 430sthat gear would be just about perfect for the strip. you could allways go to the 335-35 17 tire and the car would act like 410s . i am gong to put 430s in the callaway car in 2 weeks .got to think they will be better than the 392s in her now

I don't like 4.30s at all. One compounding factor is I have too much exhaust cam. Also, it's using everything up in the 1/4 at 120 mph.

4:30's might be perfect for a non drag car. I just want to have some fun ripping a few gears here and there.

Brad,

I may be interested in your 3.92s. With my 19" wheels, it should get me right to a 3.45 gear.

Bob,
I'd bet you and Pete would get it pulling past 6500 in a heart beat. Momma claims this one as hers though.

It definitely has some power--just doesn't use it well with the exhaust cam and 4.30s.

Jeff,

Not sure if you got your answer or not and I realize it is difficult sometimes to get a straight answer to a question.

Here is one source, but I have not used them and not sure about shipping but the price is good. If not, just use Summit Racing with free shipping.

By the way, I have not forgot about you and the C5 mirrors. Just gotta make some time and figure out the wiring with bench test since it is difficult to get the right wiring diagram.

Have them in my car and love it! Haibeck feels it's the best bang for the buck, seat of the pants, performance mod you can do on a stock or near stock car, I agree.

Ted get her running right for the wife.:)

Ted just something to ponder.
Al,Bob & Kevin all 10 sec 133-135 MPH cars all running smaller exhaust cams then what's in that Z.

I'd love to do a comparison test on those cams even though i already know the outcome.:-D
Here's a challange we could do on your Z,just gave myself an idea.
I'll email you the idea.
