I read a lot of posts here and have come to the conclusion the drone is just something you can live with or you can change the muffler. I love the nice look of the Band B mufflers and the tips. Any ideas on a nice stainless muffler I can slip in to not lose HP and still have a nice polished stainless look and kill the cruising drone?
I can't hear the freakin radio and down shift all the time so I can make a call.
Anyone just put dynomat in the trunk area to help?
Dynomax muffs, etc? part number or links?
thanks for any experiences/info.

Yeah I tryoed it on my modded 89 with B&B. it does not really hep that much
Dynomax muffs, etc? part number or links?
I ended getting a pair of Dynomax Ultra flow Welded mufflers.. single in/ single out and used LT1 tips.. I found the Single outlet helps.
some guys on here have vacuum controlled flappers from the Z06 on one outlet on each side.. it seems like that helps too

my white car now has the b and b x pipe but with dyno max 3 in super turbo mufflers with dual exits and have no drone at all . best of all we took the tips off the b and b muffler and put them on the dyno max mufflers. i am sure it cost me no horsepower at all

Ive had all three systems. B&B, Magna Flow and Corsa.
Ive said this hundereds of times. For a cruiser or daily cruiser Corsa is the WTG.
Magnaflow is the best bang for the buck money wise and is midline they drone less
B&B best flowing, most agressive and the nicest looking tips in a 3inch mufllers for a track car or sunday car only. The resonance drone sucks.... You cant carry a converstaion with your passenger.
My Z is a daily driver.
It all comes down to what you want if it's HP and sound the Dynomax mufflers are best for sound and performance if your looking just for quiet with bling Magnaflows sound nice and nice price but rob power over the latter.
Before you run out and buy Corsa's go listen to one at WOT from the outside of the car and decide from there, from the inside it sounds ok but what people hear from the outside is a whole other story especially with headers.
Only one outlet tip of the Corsa is a working tip.
Bob G has 427ci, AlZR1 has 441ci LT5's with headers full 3' exhaust, 3' x-pipe and 17228 Dynomax mufflers installed the C6ZO6 flappers both Z's are nice and quiet at cruise and sound bad a$$ at WOT
Again it's what you want HP? Bling? Price? etc.

FWIW, I had Dynomax 3" Ultraflow single in, dual outlet (stock '90 tips) with stock pipes and an LT4 resonator. It droned pretty good, and sounded excellent. When I went to headers, I kept ear plugs in the center console, and took Excedrin with me on trips. I ultimately went Corsa and had zero regrets.
The sound from outside could be described as rough, but I think it sounded bad-as-hell. It sounds like you are throwing sheetmetal into a shredder. Inside it sounds burbly and awesome. It's very dual-mode, much like the ZR-1 itself. Low throttle and it's pretty tame. Mat the throttle and it sounds like straight pipes. A friend said it sounds "like it's spitting razorblades at you".
Painted black and it looked bad-as-hell too, I think:

I have Corsa with headers & 4.10 gears, gears will matter, changes RPM/drone,Corsa-no drone, quit at low RPM, really gets loud at full throttle, works well for me, its all about what you want

get a vacuum actuated flapper in the exhaust. should help with the drone

I think I'd just go after the polished dynomax's but I don't know anyone who can do the stainless welding to put them in for me.
I like the flapper idea but still some work to get it all in.
Thanks for all the info.

Something must be wrong with me and not sure what generation B&B I have, but with the stock exhaust manifolds on for my emissions testing I don't have drone. I do remember some with the headers, but it was not bad as I hear about. Now when I put the headers back on and replace resonator with X pipe I might have some regrets, not sure and don't care hoping to be able to live with it for the sound and performance. I guess everyone has a different tolerance or acceptable level. I personally don't like the sound of the Corsas, but know they are great systems with little or no drone.

I have had a lot different cars with built motors and exhausts. The B and B's are loud at cruise, downright unbearable. I have stainless works headers. I want it loud when I am going through the gears or WOT but cruising it shouldn't make my teeth rattle.
The B and B looks awesome and definitely sounds awesome anytime your not cruising around.
I had a C5 Z06 head and cam with the stock TI exhaust. It sounded great all the time. You don't have to have drone to sound good.

I hear what you're saying and isn't there like 3 generations or so of B&B mufflers for our cars? I would call them. I spoke with Micheal?, Billy Boat's brother and there is supposed to be some type of flapper system developed for our cars too. Mine were sent back and they modified them for free, but it might have been at a power loss and curious to look inside the mufflers to see what others are talking about. It was the look I wanted too and thought the tips match the rear the best, but we all have opinions..........

When I was in Bob Halls car it was as loud as a ZR-1 could get with Watson headers no cats an X pipe and 3"or B&B. And yes you did have to raise your voice to communicate. But I've been in newer ZO6's with big cams and headers that were much louder than his car was. I kinda like feeling like im in a rolling bomb. But I do agree that on a daily basis would not work.

What is the cost of parts to install the C6Z06 flappers?

i totally agree with pete on his system analysis. i really think i have the best of both worlds with the dyno max mufflers coupled to the 3 in b and b pipes and xpipe . one thing that help to keep things from droning is to pay atten to keeping 10 mm going under the rearend and also 10 mm when going out the back and although some may not like the way it looks extend the tips at least 8 in past the valance . mine are 12 in past the valance . it does make a difference as i found out thanx to bill boudreaus patience of letting me try a few different lengths

I'll be doing the Dynomax conversion this spring. Have a set of Z06 tips and flappers coming this week. Frankly I'd like to use the tips fr
the MFlow muffs, but I'd rather sell them than hack them up. I know the full MFlow system will support 400+ but not more than that apparently.

where can one get the flapper set up ???

Corvette forum C6 parts for sale has used muffs with tips with controllers and there is also lots of good reading in the Zo6 C6 section on exhaust.
I know that using enough rubber on all the connections makes a huge difference especially with drone. Mine are in tight and they seem to not have much movement. If they begin to resonate and vibrate they transfer that right up your backside.
