I saw this on Ebay and was wondering if this info is worth buying ? I'd like to have some info I can study in my spare time ( like that'll happen :) ... I also saw a set of USA made headers for the ZR on there for $500.00 ( stainless) .any ideas ..? I'm getting my wish list together...

I think that's Lee....oops sorry, LGAFF is the screen name. Or at least it looks like his work. Lee was selling CD's to us and I bought a set and they are great to have in addition to the FSM. JMHO:o

It's not a complete substitute for the FSM set from Helm, but it's better than nothing.

The headers are OBX right? Get them as they are a good fit, a few guys here have used them and had very favorable results with their installs.

contact LGAFF on this site so he can avoid the ebay fees. He is always hookin Z brothers up. He put together a nice collection of info for us. Many on here have bought them from him.

I'll see iF I can find LGAFF here, Thanks The headers i dont know who makes them , all it had was the sellers business name ... Is there a header ( kit) that goes from the headers and bolts straight into the cat? I was told the ZR exhaust is really restrictive and headers/ mufflers make a huge difference...

If you are talking about hooking to factory cat I haven't seen one. As for the $500 headers I believe you are refering to OBX on ebay. I had a set installed and works great. However, you will have to add metallic cats. Due to distance between exhaust port to cat (increased resulting in cooling) there may be degradation in emission level. From performance stand point, it works great!

Here is what I've been thinking of doing . Buying tthe headers , get some stainless exhaust pipe, and PYPEs mufflers . I've had really good results with Pypes mufflers in the past... Also a friend of mine who is an exhaust genius and freek'in picky with his standards works at a NAPA and does the exhaust . This guy makes sure his stuff is perfect ( It looks like art work when he's finished ) .. I was going to get the parts and let'em do his thing.. any suggestion on Cats?

Corbusa, all LT5's had dual CATs OEM. It's just the early cars 90-92 had them welded to the exhaust manifolds. The 93 -95 had bolt on CATs. So yes, you will need to buy two CATs and a CAT back system. I know on the 90's that the bottleneck is the resonator as it goes from 2.5" pipes to a 2.25" resonator inlet & outlet, then back up to 2.5" for the pipes going to the stock mufflers. I figure that it is the same for 91 & 92 also, but not 100% sure.

As for brands, that will depend upon how strict TN's emissions' testing is. Most of the s/s spun element CATs don't hold heat so they don't actually do my 'catalyzing' of anything. The 'grid' or 'brick' type are the best at emissions control as they are more restrictive. Magnaflow makes a verity of CARB approved CATs and also the s/s spun types also. Or there is Random Tech who make the spun element type. If you go to stainlessWorks web site you can eyeball up the parts for a visual on what the stuff looks like.

LGAFF - email sent :) Tom Thanks for the info.. I was totally off on my guess for the cats ( reason ) I had an 88 z51 and bought an aftermarket cat and bought one that was supposed to be bigger because it came off a zr... 2-1-2 Oh well I'm getting old or wetodddid

Not only that, but the core of the resonator is 1 and 5/8ths ID!
That's Briggs and Stratton stuff... There's a nice picture of the inside of the resonator in Marc's website http://www.zr1specialist.com
No wonder the aftermarket exhausts work so well!!!
