This is the Lotus GT-1 intake, says this is a 5.0 LT-5 built by Bonefied customs.

Lee,

DRM built a LT5 a few years back (06-07) with that intake for a mid engine car. I don't remember much else about it....

Does not appear to be an oil pan, I think they are running a sump which explains how they run 9200 RPM and supports the Mercury Marine contentions that the 8K barrier was related oiling not the chains....

You are correct.. Bonefied bought it for the 4 bolt block that was originally in the car.. but was not when the car was hit

I like the motor, but this guy up the street from me in Conroe TX is running much faster with a Corey Hendersen built 373 which has a normal plenum and revs lower.

Thats a 5 liter motor with 550hp @ 8500 ...not too shabby

Sure would be interesting to have some of that technology trickle down to the community (dry sumps; radical intakes, etc).

I spoke with Jamie at Bonefied a year or so ago and he said they were going to use a 4 bolt block he picked up from John Sullivan (LGNDLT5 on here). Recall he had Bryant turn out a special 3" short stroke billit crankshaft ($$$$$) with 4.0" cylinder liners & pistons to get down to 5 liters displacement in order to meet the rules. Also adapted an aftermaket ignition system to work on the LT5.
Anyone know if the car had any luck setting a new speed record for class it was running?

the intake that i'd love to actually see...if it would be made properly....was the sheet metal intake that billy k had in bg in 06

No sucessful runs at Bonneville for the Bonefied Customs ZR-1; eletric water pump failed on the first run and lost a head gasket

Anyway to find what ignition they're using?

Bringing this thread back from the way dead. Does anybody know where this engine is today? I'd like to contact them about it... I have a project in mind :D

They still run Bonneville, they are talking about changing to cam belts, etc...

They are on Facebook but rarely respond....don't answer the phone all the time either.

Sounds like they are still running it then? I was looking to buy the engine, or some key components.

Last I heard yes, they have $10K+ in just the oil sump system if I recall

I can tell you what that crank cost. a fews years ago I had a 1200 hp 357 stroked mustang with a blower. it was tuned in michigan by john meany of dfi fuel injection and sent back to miami at crawford performance which has closed its doors for many years. I had 45k in that motor all fabricated. the crank was ordered from sonny bryant and it cost me 3800.00 in 1996 but I could rev that motor to 8k all day long with a blower. ran 8.50's at 160mph in a 3300 pound car dragging its wheelie bars all the way down the track. I drove that on the street to weekend gatherings. sonny bryant makes the finest cranks money can buy and that is why every professional racer orders cranks from him. fyi. ed ramos #3028=D>
