Pictures and details to follow as others check in, but the ZR-1s took home the gold! The FBI big guns turned in the fastest three times and were awarded the team trophy that we get to keep till next year!
It was a great time. More (and pix) later.

It was a great day for racing!
Kevin, Al, and Bob G, and Tony did the heavy lifting turning in a couple 10.9x and an 11.0 with the big inch LT5s and you can believe there was an awakening among the other clubs And Marc ran his "usual" 12.0s.
After the time trials, the venue switched to bracket racing. Kevin, AL, Bob G and son Tony, and Marc participated in that. Kevin got down to the last elimination before he was beat by hundredths of a second; squeezed between breaking out of his bracket and beating the guy he was racing against. Kevin said he had to pull up to keep from breaking out, and his competitor squeezed in at the finish line in nick of time.
Kenny brought along his magnificent 383 C3, but for some reason it wouldn't shift into 3rd, so he didn't go as fast as he might have liked. But, if they gave a trophy for the best looking Vette, he would have had it nailed!
In the course of the racing, Kevin turned in the quickest ET(?) (is that right Kev?), for which he received an individual trophy, AND also won some cash gas money.
http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x220/6PPC_bucket/Vettes/FBIteamchamps.jpg
From left to right, most of the core of the FBI gang:
Kevin, Dom, Tony Gillig, Bob "G", Dan (friend of Kevin), Marc (holding the team trophy - which just happens to have a C4 mounted on the top (fitting, doancha think?) - yours truly - Kenny W, Al and Pete (didn't race as his motor is apart)
The only casualties for the day was my car - blew (we hope) just the IH gasket, resulting in a fog of coolant blowing out of the left side on my first pass. :censored: (I think this track and my Z hate each other; two breakdowns in a row on the first pass each time.) And, Kevin's transmission lasted all afternoon, but threw in the towel on the way home.
All in all it was a very good time had. And, I'm looking forward to another chance to make a friggin pass without breaking something...I reeeeeally wanted to get into the 11s with the mods, but it was not to be. (I did manage to do a 13.0 at 115 mph on 7 cylinders...if that's any indication of how it might have been different!
Mission accomplished. It was sweet to see these old war horses put down all comers and get some recognition from much younger Vette drivers. After just a few passes, there welled up a pretty constant stream of people coming by the tent and cars, asking questions about the ZR-1s and LT5s in particular.
Now, I hope next year we can see a few more Registry Zs come out to play. We'll have some time to get ready...so get ready! And, who knows...I might actually make a pass w/o something breaking!! (Last year, the low oil pressure "idiot light" switch blew out and sprayed the header w/ oil on the first pass, and this time coolant burst into the #3 hole, shutting it down during the pass. I think it may just be the IH gasket; the web between the coolant and the intake runner is very narrow. But, perhaps I'll know more after work today(?))

I would think 630-650hp at the flywheel
To get a 3500 lb (weight with driver) car to go 134 mph in the quarter. Rear wheel HP has got to be in the 590's ! My calculator tell's me 596 rwhp to be exact.

Frank,
Its easily over 600+rwhp because you're forgetting Bob G was driving.:sign10::sign10:
BTW, I think the DA that day was 2100, I think.

Lee,now wait a cotton picken minute.:p
LPE runs 134.34 MPH it's 700hp when a FBI Z runs 134.35 it's only 650hp, LPE must have sick old horses and we have healthy studs :)

Hmmmm.... Using Lingenfelter's 15% rule...
Lessee now... FWHP = RWHP/.85, so FWHP = (say) 595/.85
OMG! There's that "7" number again!!:jawdrop:
No doubt about it...dem ol LT5s make um lots o' power - stroked or otherwise!

I believe that the LPE car also had slicks vs Bob"s drag radials.

I think I may have seen that run in the video. It was at Bowling Green back in the nineties. If it's the car I'm thinking of, it had one of John L's first 415's, M/T cheaters (in non-stock size), skinnies up front, and some lightening, no passenger seat, plexiglass rear window, no spare tire, no side mirrors, among other things. And a first class driver

New numbers for the 1990 automatic 441 ZR1 - went out today - temp 53 - baro 30.06 - dew point 27. US41 dragway in Indiana - same place we went for the Corvette shootout a few weeks ago, but about 30 degrees cooler. Today's numbers:
1.52 60ft - 10.63 1/4 mile - 132mph
1.48 60ft - 10.44 1/4 mile - 133mph
1.47 60ft - 10.58 1/4 mile - 131.5 mph
On last pass of the day, I nearly ran down a "no-clock" trailer car from behind - made my day - went flying by him about 10ft after the finish line like he was tied to a post. He had me by about a car, car and a half at mid-track. Bet he never expected a streetable Corvette to come back at him on the big end.
Cheers all,
Kevin #2870
Way to go Kevin ! Nice 60ft and MPH !
What automatic are you running ? And the automatic holds up ? Stock rear hold up too ?
Signed Frank .....the (441) rear end parts braker.

Frank - careful there - don't jinx me!! I'm running one of Chuck's (Finish Line Performance), 4L65Es - Level 5 - max build. So far so good. I've had some tough luck with my automatics in the past - especially the 2-3 clutch band, but this one seems to be holding well and doing the trick. Stock rear end with 3.91s is holding up too. The automatic with the torque converter takes some of the shock out of the launch compared to a stick, so I believe that helps alot. I think with a stick, I'd be sweeping up parts off the starting line.....
Cheers - KC
