After a week long ordeal I finally got her home.. My car Left CA. Monday last week and was supposed to be here last Thursday or Friday .I Finally got it yesterday .. I'll try and make the story short. I get a call Monday saying the transport driver lost everyone's keys , Ok.. Then they needed me or my seller to get a new set , then after a day of finally getting a set of keys made, that still didnt deliver it ( said they wont drop of cars at night time). next day , still no show, Transport Co. had driver issues, and the next day I have to meet the guy 75 miles away to get my car . The driver said he was another drive from another company and didnt know the deal with the car but heard rumors that it was sitting in a gravel lot for a few days.. ANYWAY -I have her here ,she looks great no damage but, My concern is ( this is where I could use some advise) . When I got in the car it was dead . The battery was totally dead .( they left the dome lights on) we jumped it off and it started right up. But was wanting to stall at idle, By the time I got home it seemed fine . I think it was low voltage? starts right up now and idles fine. Other question is I have never heard an LT5 engine run and this one is making a funny noise when driving in 1st & 2nd and a little in 3rd, Kind of like a slight tapping / diesel sound. My concern is I know and trust the owner from CA. 100% but did the guys who said they lost the keys go dog my car ? Is something wrong? is it supposed to sound that way?
Also I'll get the name of the transport Co. and let you guys know who they are so you can beware. I do know they are out of Memphis ,TN..
I'll get a few pictures this weekend... Thanks Me

Would that transport company happen to be DAS?The noise you hear might be a bad fuel injector, fouled plug or bad plug wire. When the car has a miss the cam chains as well as the flywheel can make a knocking sound.

The LT5 does have it's unique sound - sort of a grrrrrrr under throttle - a little reminiscent (perhaps) of a diesel's "note", IMO. There is a thread featuring a couple videos of someone racing a Z. See if the sound you're referring to is the same you hear in the video clips.
Congratz on the Z, BTW. Welcome to the Brotherhood of the Beast!

Welcome and I'm glad you have your Z in hand! Transport companies can be a shot in the dark, especially long hauls like that. I used a broker recently when getting my Z from NY to FL and was happy with the service and delivery.
If you can, post a video or audio of your car -- would love to see or hear it!

Hey cruz,..I lived in Ft Myers for 5 years(ft Myers beach) and also off of summerlin,...While I was there I had a black/black Grandsport,....I miss Florida,..
I am also dealing with that sound that prompted a shop to say that the timing chain jumped!,...
I have been here a short time and I can tell you,..Listen to NO-ONE that is not a owner or qualified to work on them,...these folks here can save you wasted thousands with the knowledge they have....As a lifelong Aerospace engineer(25yrs) and veteran corvette mech I am humbled by there knowledge.

Small world! Too funny -- I lived for 19 years outside DC in Northern Virginia. I'm thankful every day that I don't live there any more. There does appear to be an active group of ZR-1 owners in your area which is missing here. As you've already seen, they can be quite helpful...

I'd get a new battery, these cars eat voltage and if you don't have a good battery you're going to run into annoying problems...my ds door hatch release doesn't work because I haven't driven the car in about a month.

Thanks for the replies. I havent driven it since I brought her home. I've worked day and night for the past 4 days.. It'll probably still be a couple of days before I can slow down and take a good ride..
As soon as I can I'll get a Good Battery. Thanks all.
