WooHoo! Kinda short notice, like TWO WEEKS away, but Hell yeah!
It was THIS event that gave me the bug to do the mods to my then stock 90. Whata rush!
And, I've told youz guyz before, about the crowd chatter in the bleachers - mostly C5 n 6 drivers, and how they scoffed when this dark green C4 lined up against one of the Chicago club's C5 drivers... Something like, "Oh, look! There's a C4 lining up against (so and so). This ought to be good!" Well, it WAS good...But, NOT in the way they thought it would be! (heh, heh, heh...) It seems it was the infamous "MEAN GREEN MACHINE" in the far lane, and in a little over 11 seconds later, the silence was only broken by someone saying, "Holy Sh_t!"
Adding insult to injury, Dominic spanked them again, and then Pete came to the line once more. Only, this time there was a different tone - a little less condescension this time - as someone said, "Hey look! It's that ZR-1 lining up again!" Someone in the crowd said, "Whats a ZR-1?" Again, a little over 11 seconds later, he had his answer.;) And, again, Dominic too make a successful pass. WEll, at that point, I couldn't stand it anymore. I hadn't intended to race, but this looked like too much fun!! It was a blast!
They give out this trophy to the club with the best aggregate for 3 different cars. It always seems to go to the Chicago clubs - or has for the past 3 years - C5-6 drivers, mostly.
Gentlemen...it's time to shake em up a little. It's time the FBI/Net Registry rattled their cages a bit, don'tcha think?????:dancing It's time to see if the FBI can't put the fear of LT5 in their hearts! The trophy went to aggregates in the mid 12s. With Pete's monster 350, Bob Gs 427, Kevin and Al's 441, Marc Haibeck's 12.1 sec with his car last year...should put 'em on the edge of their seats, if not put them away all together!!!
Let's DO THIS!

Where's Pete?
I talked to Pete, and he's overhauling the motor; bearings, sleeves, pistons, rings. He might drive it down if it is running by then, but feels he will need some break-in miles before racing. But, he says he'll be there one way or another, weather (as always) being the factor.
So, I suppose you could say we've got 7 FBI drivers planning to be there, but maybe only 6 ZR-1s, so far.
BTW, Dom, I don't have Brett's number. Might want to give him a call!?

Update:
It looks like the "Who's Who" of the FBI showing up for this one! I just spoke with Pete a bit ago, and he says Kevin will try to make it. So, here's who's coming...
Jim McCarty
Al
Marc Haibeck
Dom (says he won't race, but we'll see! :phe )
Bob G
Kevin
Kenny Windisch (possibly - depends on circumstances)
Pete (car won't be ready, but he and Dom will be down in front with the pom-poms and pleated cheerleaders' skirts - tossing each other in the air, doing the splits, stuff like that there!
and last (but hopefully not least) ME!
Now, if Lee and Phil and some of the IN or down state IL ZR-1 guys would check in, we could really have a party!
So far, the weather looks like it is going to be great!

I'll have the cabana and the ZR-1 Banner set up. Bring some bag chairs and soft drink coolers
It's $25 at the gate, and $10 at the registration booth. My understanding is we stop by the registration booth after each run and they record the times to determine which club goes home with the traveling trophy. Guys, with the heavy hitters in the crowd, we stand a good chance of taking that one home!! What say U???

Hi ZR-1 guys!
I'm the webmaster for the Crown Point Corvette Club in northwest Indiana. We're the club that sponsors the drag day at Rt. 41. Just wanted to give you all the heads up that we're planning the 2012 Corvette Shootout again this year, on September 9th. Same place as last year, No Limit Raceway (Rt. 41). Be sure to keep an eye on our website (http://www.crownpointvettes.org (http://www.crownpointvettes.org/)) as we make more details available. There's nothing up there just yet, but we're putting together the last few details, so it's coming soon.
Also, I believe that the ZR1 owners who attended last year won the traveling club trophy. Could whoever is possession of the trophy drop me a line at webmaster@crownpointvettes.org (webmaster@crownpointvettes.org) with your contact information so I can pass it along to our club president, Bill Gnerlich? He just wants to make sure that the ZR1s were planning to be back this year and that the trophy makes its way back too.
Looking forward to another fun, safe event this year!
Thanks!

If the trophy is gone, then can he at least bring the stripper? :dancing
Thanks Pete! I'll try to PM Paul Workman. That name sounds familiar from last year.
BTW, hoping to see another good turnout of ZR-1s again this year. You guys run 'em hard. :jawdrop:
