Please let us know if the cars on stage look anywhere as good in person as they do on t.v. How much don't we see from our living rooms?

SOLD IT SOLD IT SOLD IT
1,019 actual miles. 2010 Bloomington Gold Survivor. Documents go with the car. This car has been displayed in a heated/cooled garage its entire life.
$24,200 INCLUDING 10% BUYERS PREMIUM
so simple math says; a near perfect, near zero mile, show ready 1990 Z is worth $22,000
I'm in the market for one and I find this price low.
if I had remembered about this one in time I would have registered and bid.
if this isn't the bottom I don't know if there is one

If it makes anyone feel better 1987 Callaway #6 went for only $13K at Mecum and it only had 24K miles!

I think the lesson in an auction is, put a reserve price on it.

I've never liked Barrett Jackson! Too much hopla and guess who pays for it? Craig and Steve laugh all the way to the bank and back. Couldn't have done any worse on Fleabay and could have set a reserve.

What did #82 sell for? I'm too lazy to go to the B-J website to check...

Can't do it at Barrett Jackson. All no reserve....

I think pretty much everyone knew Barret- Jackson use to be a no reserve auction, until recently. Last knight at the start of the show they said their were going to be a few cars with a reserve. One of their previous auctions, Scottsdale maybe, had a lot of cars with a reserve.

Now, cars with an estimated market value (who determines that is unknown) of $250K or over can have reserves. There are about 5 cars here that qualify.
I would NEVER go with a NR auction... met a fellow with a very nice AH speedster and he had spent a load of $$ doing a full frame off restoration...nice car but he was cr*pping nails over poor auction results and expecting loose his shirt. Will be interesting to see results and hope he does well.

I don't honestly think that this will affect the market in any way (for the immediate future anyway). it is one of the wonderful things about the power of auctions, when 69 camaros started selling, every nimrod with a rusted out piece of s*it started asking for the weight in gold "one just like this just sold a B-J for $250,000". but when prices drop sellers say things like "those auctions don't mean anything"
The sad sad truth is that this car is at this price, worth less than the sum of it's parts.

Well, lets see, more guys part out their cars because they are worth more parted out than whole. That means that there are fewer whole cars left making them rarer and puts more parts in the inventory to make getting parts easier! Sounds good to me!;)

They are panning around the cars for sale under one of the tents and as bright as daylight was the rear end of a red 1990 ZR-1!

Sadly, the auction sales DO effect everyone's car value. It's not fair but it just works that way. At an auction, there just has to be two people there that actually want the car bad enough to fight for it. If not, the final sale is just deadful.
I've been in the 53 market for a few years now. In 2008 they were auctioning for over $400k. Three years later and a fresh 53 only bid to $180 and stopped. No sale. That same car sold a year ago at Auburn for $250k. I was at Auburn a few weeks ago with two 53's and the owner. One bid only to $150k (NCRS Top Flight car) and the other bid to only $120k. Sad. That's one hell of a loss on the previous value.
Like soneone else said, "Drive em if yo got em."
Barrett Jackson as a whole, SUCKS anyway. THE CARS ARE GREAT TO LOOK AT but......PT Barnum laughing all the way to the bank at others expense.

I don't think BJ sucks too bad in person. You can check out a bunch of nice cars. If you are a buyer, it's your world!
They do have their share of venders. T-shirt sales etc. Can't blame them there. In fact, Pete Rose even had a booth there selling autographed baseballs for $100 bucks each. (I didn't buy one.)
On TV now, it's another story. For me, anyway. They have too many commercials and spend too much time with their side shows. I just want to see the cars auctioned. Of course when you become popular the commercial time grows.
By the way, they have a Senior discount on entry fee for us old bas"trds!

MSRP(if bought at MSRP...highly doubtful) minus Auction price divided by miles driven = $$$/mile.....OUCH!!!!!!!!!:jawdrop:

The sad sad truth is that this car is at this price, worth less than the sum of it's parts.
As I understand it...fully functional, working, well built, well maintained cars are worth about 1/3 of the sum of their parts. The other 2/3's is what pays the parts business?!?!?!
Comments?

I just hope that car gets a chance to be driven. Seems like it's such a shame to see these cars keep in some corner of a garage for all of their lives. JMHO:o

Nawwwh, mine has too many miles on it to be worth anything.......soooo I guess I'll just keep on driving, no sense in stopping now!
Seriously, that is a very depressing thought Rick! I guess it's true or at least very nearly true for the 90's anyway as there are so many of them. On the other hand, if there were not so many 90's I would never have been able to afford a ZR-1....so I'm glad for that part of the equation.:dancing

Hi all,
Back from BJ at LV... saw some interesting cars and was interesting to see some nice rides go for low bids. Here is the ZR-1 in question>>

http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b79/MRBLU/DSC00626.jpg
Just IMHO, the condition of the car suggests that even with it low mileage it was not a car properly taken care of...I would had it looking a lot better for a NR auction. It would not surprise me to see this Z parted out. Hope not...
A fairly nice 96 GS was on the block and went for $33,550...

Thanks for the pictures and the opinion. Except for the exterior paint, that 90 Z doesn't look like a 1,000 mile car. Whats with all the rust on the underneath? Being that it is a red red and in that shape, I guess the selling price wasn't quite as bad as I first thought. I have seen pics. of your 90, it puts that one to shame.
