you turn your light switch to parking lights?

Until recently my headlights buckets stayed down when I turned my parking lights on (and my driving lights) A couple weeks ago the headlight buckets started coming up (with the headlights off)

Any idea which is correct?

That's what I thought. Now the question is what is causing this. If I am not mistaken there's a headlight control module mounted on the side of the radiator shroud. I'm guessing that the culprit...?

it is mounted in that front pocket where the AIR pump is/was

the module will be bolted on the front of the wheel housing.

Unless the car is Canadian and has factory DRLs. However I think that is not the case here

Wasn't aware of that

My suspicion would be a bad headlight switch. Possible shorting across the contacts when in park lamp position, sending current to the motor circuit.

the buckets stay up when switching from headlights on to parking lights on;
the buckets close when switching to off.

Hans,

Did you ever go w HIDs?

I have HID driving lights. However, hey have been on there for almost 2 years now without a problem. I use them alot as DRL's. But no, the car is not canadian.

I have an electical manual an will run the circuits down to see if the headlight switch is a possibility also.

Has anyone else had this issue?

I had the same issue on an '89 Formula I used to own... it was the switch.

Just looked at the schematic in the electrical troubleshooting manual. It has to be the switch. The doors normally only get power when the switch is turned to the headlight position. The doors get no power when the switch is turned to the parking lamp position.

Going to replace it...
