However, I never used to have to fuss with the salad shooters - wipe the water droplets off and go. I can tell right away that WARRIOR or not, I'm going to have to fuss over them to keep them clean and free of corrosion.:(

Nice! BUT you need to get that butt lowered down....I have been looking over and over the ZR-1 profile and the raised butt seems to be the issue. So you know this is not a criticism specific to your ZR-1 but mine too... I have Master Phil W and all his works and now have lowering "bolts" which I will be applying over the next few weeks. For you ride it would look fantastic with you new wheels :dancing

I've had mine since 05 and if you start with a clean surface: I use regular car wash soap, rinse, then Klassie AIO x 2 to make sure I get all the grunge off. Next comes any good polymer ( I use chem guys jet seal ) x2 and that's it for season's get ready. Normal brake dust removal, I use carbon metallic pads, needs to be done when the wheels are cold before you go out again. I use chem guys ECO-wash as my cleaner and then hit them with chem guys Q/Detailer. I use the cheap M/F's from COSTCO for the cleaning & a good M/F for the Q/D step. Sorry for the long winded stuff. Sometimes you get some tar stuck to them and for that I use Cape Cod Towels, then wash with the QED, followed by the Q/D. I'm going to try that new stuff from Adams first chance I get as it seems like it might give more protection. The real trick is not to try to wash them when they're hot as you end up taking off all the polymer and you have to start all over again....ask me how I learned that...:redface:

okay it's all good Paul. Relax it is harder to type than to do....trust me. I'm no waxer....well not by Ricky standards anyway.

Look I can't say I'm a warrior either as I have a stock car = slow....but if I come back with brake dust on my rear chrome wheels, then it was a good ride!

Just a fwiw and this is what I learned by having chrome wheels on since 05.

1.) brake dust will eat the top coating of chrome....which isn't a metal, but something else which I forgot!:redface:

2.) Do Not Ever do anything to dirty chrome wheels if they just came back off the road...leave them alone till they are COLD.

3.) You have a house so you can skip the QED ( deatiler-speak for waterless car wash chemical ) Just use fresh car wash solution to wash them, then dry them...they don't have to be like a desert either!

4.) At start of driving season you washed them, now you need to stop the hot dust getting to the chrome. This is where the AIO comes in. It's a chemical cleaner and it leaves a very dense polymer behind when you buff it off. I do two go rounds to make sure I get every inch of wheel or paint.

5.) last step, well almost!:p I do 2 coats of a pure polymer ( I use JetSeal 109 from chem guys ) this is just another layer for the hot dust to get thru.

6.) absolute last step...I promise:p...quick detailer after Adams Buttery wax. The adams acts as a sacrificial layer to trap the hot dust as it is mostly carnuba and it's dense. When you do the regular wash after a drive it mostly comes off with the brake dust. Then the Q/Detailer is used to provide another sacrificial layer.....in theory we never get to the metal!

Disclaimer: sometimes you can feel the chrome after cleaning and it feels hard. That's when you have to start again, AIO + Polymer + wax and it should be good for another three months. I have to do this after my BG trip because I really don't do much while I'm down there except for use the QED to clean & Q/D to spruce.
