View Full Version : It's me again clutch release shudder.
Ok at low rpm gear engagment basically taking off from a stop in first. The car shudders/vibration, does not do it while driving up-shifting, or you give it more gas, you can feel it sometimes downshifting. Car idles smoothly and revs up smoothly in neutral. I'm thinking pressure plate what say ya'll, anyway to confirm/debunk my theory?

Go about 3/4 down to find 18 :jawdrop: reasons for clutch chatter. In any case, plenum diving was just a rite of passage. Pulling the trans, well, now you're into some heavy lifting!
This is wandering off topic, but if you go clutch diving, it will come into play...
BTW, when talking to Bill B at ZFdoc.com, ask him for his C-beam plates. If all they did was make removing and reinstalling the C-beam easier, they'd be worth every penny!! In fact, Bill claims some added stability - the rear end doesn't kick out so much when using the plates. My Z would squirm quite noticeably at WOT, and first time I saw the oval shaped bolt holes in my C-beam, I knew why! The beam plates fixed that problem right up!
(BTW, I switch to the Fidanza aluminum FW while I was "down there". It took a few days to get used to it in traffic, but now I'm not even aware of it. According to dyno graphs papering Marc Haibecks office, the aluminum FW is worth about 15 hp on the drag strip...FYI)
Now I'm waaay OT! But, maybe you can use the info before you go "down under"!:-D
